Transferring speed information from Zwift to the bike computer

Everyone knows that the speed information transmitted from the bike trainer to the bike computer differs from the speed information calculated by Zwift.
A bike computer on the street receives speed from a speed sensor attached to the bicycle wheel. Is it possible to similarly transmit speed information from Zwift to the bike computer via Bluetooth? In that case, the statistics on the bike computer would match the statistics in Zwift.

The head unit would have to pair to Zwift somehow to get that info if it’s even possible. Sounds like just another thing to cause signal interference and add complexity to me.

What is your use case for needing this info on the bike computer? What problem are you trying to solve?

Not possible AFAIK

The only way I could see this working is with a wheel-on trainer, and a speed sensor on the rear wheel.
So, not directly from Zwift.

That still would not match speed from the Zwift activity which incorporates draft, gradient, road surface, bike choice, height, weight, etc.

Absolutely.
I had an edit on my post that said “but it would not match what Zwift shows”, but didn’t click “Save Edit”…

I want the statistics about the distance traveled in the bike computer and in Zwift to be the same.

Yeah, but why? The actual distance you are traveling is 0.00 miles or kms. A better metric to track is time/duration in specific power or heart rate zones. The distance is all fake and overly inflated already in my opinion.

I export all my workouts, including trips outside the house, to Strava. One of the main indicators is distance. This is important to me. I also pay attention to the information about my workouts in the bike computer, but after my trips in Zwift, it is not accurate.
The problem is that the statistics are different in different places.

Zwift will send your ride to Strava already, doesn’t that solve the problem?

It will never be accurate.
Zwift is a simulation.
As @Paul_Southworth mentioned, some of the variables are draft, gradient and road surface.
Those contribute to the game, but are irrelevant to the bike computer.
If you want to have Strava match what Zwift shows, either link Zwift to Strava, or download the FIT file from your Zwift feed and upload to Strava.

According to the bike computer, I have traveled 3000 kilometers this year. According to Strava, I have traveled 2500 kilometers. This is frustrating. If Zwift could transfer its speed to the bike computer, the problem would be resolved.

or, Zwift sends the info to strava and you leave the computer out of the equation, and now you will have “accurate” data.

The speed sensor on the wheel sends speed information to the bike computer. Why doesn’t zwift send speed information in the same format? In this case, the information in the bike computer and in zwift will be the same, and there is no need to think about exporting to strava

because it doesn’t take into consideration the virtual hills, draft, bike choice, etc… all those things change your speed and therfore distance in Zwift. The bike computer only sees wheel speed and converts that into distance. You are trying to make two very different things equal.

The speed sensor on the wheel sends the quantity of wheel rotations to the bike computer. The bike computer uses the wheel length and time to calculate the speed and distance. Zwift also has information about the wheels and their length. Knowing the speed, you can calculate the wheel rotation rate. Zwift can transmit this information to the bike computer. Maybe…

I don’t think it is that simple, Zwift does a lot of calculations and things with weight and height, the virtual hills can be “flatened” by adjusting trainer difficulty, there are just so many variables.

I have provided all the calculations. Zwift has already calculated the speed. The speed is the quantity of rotations of the wheel (whose length we know) per unit of time.
It’s difficult to calculate the speed value, but it has already been calculated.

but why would Zwift put the effort into doing that? You say you want the data in Strava to match Zwift so just let Zwift send the data to Strava directly and bypass your bike computer.

For example, to have an advantage over the competition (mywhoosh, rouvy…). There are a lot of settings in zwift that I don’t use, but they were made for some reason.
