When I look for an event to join I notice there are lots of events with very few participants. It’s no fun joining a race with less than 10 riders. Why can’t there be less races, so that the number of riders per race increase?
I agree that having more races scheduled simultaneously is not better when the number of racers is low. It would be best to have only one race of a general type scheduled for a specific period, such as 15-30 minutes, to ensure good participation in each race. When there are multiple races at the same time and they are not part of a league, people tend to choose the race with the most participants, leaving other races with very low attendance.
I recall that Zwift implemented some participation criteria for race series to be included or remain in the public schedule, but it seems that these criteria cannot be enforced at the moment.
It is currently low season for Zwift in the Northern Hemisphere. I’m still using Zwift for shorter and more intense races since I dislike doing intervals alone. I find myself planning more ahead of time for each Zwift session compared to winter when there are always well-attended races available. I only sign up for races where I know there will be good participation, such as ZRaces and Tiny Races.
