Is it possible to create a local time trial challenge vs a friend?

Yes, there are a few different ways you could do this.
Use the “Meetup” function, invite your friend, choose the course, but race results on, both of you use a TT bike, don’t show other zwifters in the world.
Create a club event, if you are an owner or moderator of a club, create an event and your friend can join. Use TT bikes so you don’t get draft from each other.

What if we did not race at the same time. Like an ongoing contest where we can track the best time?
Just use strava segments then and keep track somewhere like a Google doc. Can’t do that on Zwift.
If you are happy to ride a pre-select route then community TTT might be of interest. You can register at a time that suits you and results will be displayed on the site.
