Time delay when using Garmin Vector 3 power meter pedals

,

Just a head’s up to users who have Garmin Vector pedals and also use the Garmin ios app and Apple TV. I was experiencing an issue where there was a delay in Zwift between my actual pedaling output and when it registered in Zwift. The delay could range from 5 seconds up to 30 seconds. I believe I have solved the problem (knock on wood). What was happening was that my open Garmin app on my iPhone was trying to hijack the boothtooth connection between the pedals and Apple TV, and while doing so was creating a delay. The fix was easy - make sure your Garmin app is closed before starting a new session in Zwift. Make sure the app is “fully” closed. Double click your home button, find the Garmin app and swipe up to ensure the Garmin app is closed and not active.

I hope this save some others grief as it did me. Cheers…

Thanks for this, Marc! I searched the forums for answers to my experienced delay and voila! Your answer was spot on.
What I also realized was that the Vector pedals broadcast in Bluetooth AND Ant+, so that when I switched my MacBook Pro’s BT off completely, my whole setup was communicating in one “Language” = Ant+. If only my HR could be broadcast with BT (from my Fenix3 wrist), I could’ve done all the comms in BT but alas. Now to still figure out how to use an ANT+ dongle with my iPad Pro …
