You mean events that force you on to a particular bike? Perhaps they will force you onto a particular bike with particular levels of upgrades. We don’t know yet.
That’s what Gordon is saying; but we all know Zwift won’t go that far with this…
They never do.
Well, based on the comments about this being a bad idea, I’m sure Zwift will decide to pause the release of this to think about all that’s been said here.
Just like with the latest revision of XP levels.
And in a few months, do it anyway.
Just like with the latest revision of XP levels.
Sounds like it will be 1 saved setup, and no ability to save/configure beyond “what you used last?”
No new roads, what I’m sure will be a convoluted upgrade system that unbalances races, and a Minimum Viable Product-tier garage feature after years of asking for it.
Outstanding.
Edit: apparently there are new roads coming, but one has to go to an “unofficial” site to learn that. Please include relevant information in your press releases @manda_F
On Zwift Insider, about the new expansion, it said an ancient land is “emerging.” I do wonder if it will be underwater like a cool Atlantis City or rather a new piece of land will come out from above the water.
Odd. It’s in the press release but just not included here on the forums
Always been like this though, look at cam jeffers a few years ago who apparently used an ant+ simulator to get the tron bike because it was the fastest at the time and he didn’t have it in the garage for races
Never mind. It didn’t say emerging, just appearing from out of the water. Curious to find out.
Somewhat surprised they didn’t go with purely cosmetic changes rather than upgrades that impact dynamics. It might be that it doesn’t take too many drops to get all 5 stages so maybe people will still use multiple bikes and just need to spend a few drops on each to upgrade?
Best assumption is because cosmetic changes “take a lot of work”
versus fudging some numbers around.
Regardless; I’d still like an answer about how this is going to affect neutralized / enforced bike frames.
Which as a reminder… Zwift did neutralize bike frames during the Zwift games…
So this affects them just as much…
What happens when people upgrade those neutralized frames versus the people who don’t?
It’s hardly neutralized when it’s… no longer neutralized.
I don’t think it would impact neutralised bikes such as the last zwift games. For those events you can go to zwift hacks and see exactly what bike stats are being applied, which overrides the usual stats for that bike.
For events where everyone is assigned the same bike, like the current zRacing series on the new Pinarello, I expect this would have an impact.
Man what a bunch of kids crying about the further gamification as if they didn’t see that coming! I must admit it’s not for me but lots of folks like it. WHAT IS FANTASTIC IS WHAT YOU HAVE DONE WITH THE GUI!!! Absolutely brilliant!! Very clean and the transparency and hill profiles are a class act upgrade, also appreciate the Zone graph and Avg watts. Well done!! Don’t listen to the negative Nancie’s
i was doing that anyway. it seems fun
mr vale could probably arrange an assigned bike with neutral attributes for a series as popular as that, if it’s even an issue to begin with. zhq can do that kind of thing… i think they did just that for the last world champs
gran turismo, by way of your example, does this in at least one of their daily races every day for people who CBA to learn how to tune a car
Looks like a cool season. Can’t wait for the new roads!!!
Thoughts are that this road could go anywhere as we don’t have many details (because the actual road part may just be like the underwater tunnel)
but here are my guesses on where it will be and what is going on based on the picture from Zwift:
Any chance ToW series will have some mass-start races available as well? Maybe using racing score… because why not?
hoping it goes round the back of the alp to link up with the costal road is what most people want.
that and finally get a zwift velodrome with proper game modes would be a big win for users
Meanwhile we still can’t get ZHQ to fix our bikes months after a request on our group rides…
One of them is using a pre 2020 model for who knows what reason.
I’m just saying… Whoever is in charge of making these decisions needs to start thinking more about how people actually use this platform; because stuff like this is overlooked all the time.
And instead of letting us control it on our end with the flip of a setting; we have to put in a support ticket… which is the most ridiculous thing I can think of in terms of how software… excuse me, a “game”, operates.
hoping some of that will improve. They do really need to allow organisers more access it must be a massive overheard for them doing things manually and responding to 100s of emails a day.
Then when you get to an event it’s not set right like what happened to us this evening. Thankfully not a drastic issue but it was not as we requested.
agreed, trust me… but while they work on that - if they’re working on it and i hope they are - i think jb or whoever originally set up your group ride can help you out with that if you can get hold of them and they have a spare minute, they’re good people
