The Zwift Big Spin [March 2024]

Why? Honest question.

Nothing you get from the prize wheel is terribly effective, it’s all just cool looking bling. I finished one particular B route 3 times within about 5 minutes, 3 different spins. Does that impact anyone else in any way, when they could be doing the same thing if they wanted to?

What about the community spirit, of enjoying those 18km with your fellow friends on Zwift? You are missing out on all of that.

3 times in 5 minutes, surely you’d have preferred 90 minutes?

More seriously, it’s about getting engagement and encouring people to use Zwift more. If everyone just unlocks everything within a few days then the other events will all be pointless.

What about the community spirit of sticking it to The Man?

I don’t see a problem.
There is a Hugh community spirit of folks trying to get the bike or the wheels.
People are just engaging with the event within the rules.
In a race, it’s not allowed.

But everyone can’t unlock everything within a few days–there are special unlocks for each stage that aren’t available in the other stages.

“3 times in 5 minutes, surely you’d have preferred 90 minutes?”

No, I did exactly what I preferred that day  Yesterday, I did a sprint in France in 24 seconds. I would not have preferred 90 minutes of that sprint.

Finished the big one today but the spinner did not work. I’m not hugely bothered, it’s better than simply losing the connection in a race. I already have the headphones from the short route- they just appeared, I didn’t spin a wheel.

since it was private, any public answer on the zwiftpower times not making sense?
Showing a bunch of times at least for the B ride that are off by somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 minutes.

FYI, it doesn’t look like all times for this event have this problem, but this one did

That’s not the B ride though? That is the A ride?

B is Suki’s playground course instead.

There was an answer over here but it doesn’t seem to be on point

When the groups are on different routes, Zwiftpower only ever shows the route information for the A ride.

Zwiftpower seems to calculate elapsed times from the individual rider finish time and the event start time. There must be something unusual about the event configuration here, maybe the event starts on the hour with staggered start offset of 15 and 16 minutes.

Maybe related, but this is for the entire event. Seems sporadic.
The 4:15pm UTC B ride is + ~15mins
The 5:15pm UTC B ride appears ok
The 6:15pm B Spin ride is off again by 15 mins
The 7:15pm B Spin ride is +~15mins

Here’s screenshot of the only 1 of these 4 that seems to have the correct times. I am somewhat surprised I haven’t seen a lot more mention of this bug.

I had a look at this earlier and it seems every event has either one or the other category being 15 minutes off. I haven’t seen a single event where the A and B categories are both the correct times nor have I seen an event where both A and B have had 15 minutes added. It’s always either A or B.

Whose idea was it to put ghost power ups in a group ride?

I thought that too - seems an odd inclusion

See my post here The Zwift Big Spin [March 2024] - #24 by Jason_J_SPM

Messed up again, won’t let me late join, but will let me join another ride here in 50min

What do you see if you go to the Events tab instead of looking at For You?

@Jason_J_SPM, click on the Big Spin tile in the top row, then click on stage 2 and it should list the current rides and allow late join. I late joined yesterday with no problem.

Its there Paul, thanks
