I don’t know if I’m the only one. But when I join a piece partner, I usually go for CC. But after a bit of warm up, I often feel that I should have gone with BB instead. I wish there was a feature that allows switching pace partner mid ride, and not having to exit the game.
I’d like to revive this old topic…
Now that there are more pace partners, and the paces are more closely spaced, it is more important than ever to be able to switch to a new pace partner seamlessly.
For example, I want to warm up at a slower pace, then jump to a higher one, and finally peak at a challenging pace for a while. Then I want an intermediate pace to spin out my legs, and finally a slower pace to cool down.
Having to exit out to the main screen and re-select the new pace partner disrupts my pace and rhythm. And I would prefer a single, longer ride (at various paces) than a boatload of short rides on my Zwift and Strava profile.
Cool idea and I agree. I take a few minutes to warm and inform the heart that work is coming.
But for these types of requests it is imperative that @James_Zwift be copied to ensure exposure to Zwift.
Ride On!
We have Pace Partner teleportation on our roadmap - I believe Spring.
As it stands now, you can definitely leave a pace partner if you get too far ahead or too far behind. When you get near to them again, you get the “Join Pace Partner” visual prompt. But many times you can see other pace partners and their groups spinning around the same map.
I haven’t tried this, but–if I started with a given Pace Partner, left that partner by getting too far ahead/behind, and tagged up with another Pace Partner’s group on the road…would I get the ‘Join’ message for that new partner?
Yes, if you stay with any pace partner for long enough you will “join” them. When I’m warming up with a slow pace partner and the group is passed by a faster one, I sometimes chase on to join the faster one. But the route probably won’t be the same so you’ll lose the new group unless you make manual turns to keep following.
Excellent, thanks for confirming. I was thinking about trying that the next time I was out, just to see if it worked. Often I’m seeing them coming in the opposite direction (haven’t been passed by another going the same direction yet), so the trick will be to see them coming and u-turn quickly enough to link up. Might be fun to spend a ride jumping around, see how many pace partners I can ride with on one go
