Streak and XP Leveling Adjustments [April 2024]

No one will be reduced in level. The “level 100 takes ______XP” only applies to someone creating a new account.

So i’m a bit confused are there two level systems now? the current one for anyone already started and the new one for anyone starting from after the change? or if someone is level 70 now, do they jump to 70 on the new system until their XP catches up and then progresses again? Or do they just move from 70 on the new system as if they were at the XP to make them 70 on the new system?

ps - i don’t mind, just trying to get my head round it all!

No one will change levels, up or down. After you gain a level after the change is made, you will go on to the new XP steps for future levels. Whatever XP you have already earned is irrelevant (discounted or accelerated levels aside), only the distance between the level you just gained and the next level.

This was the succinct way to ask the long rambling question I asked here:

If this is the way it works, then the best strat to set up for boosting forward is to really get as many levels right now in the current system ahead of May’s release, to minimize how much your account needs to use the larger steps I guess.

I wonder how this will have changed by the time i come back on zwift at the end of October/beginning of November when the indoor season starts again (level 37 at the minute)

I believe your statement is correct. As I understand it…
If you are at level 70, you will remain a level 70. What ever you need for xp to get to level 71 will still be the same as now.
Once you get to 71, the new points system will take effect.
So if you need 720000xp to get to level 72, and you only have 520000xp. It will take you 200000xp, to get to level 72.

  • There will be no change to the amount of XP required to reach your immediate next level. You’ll earn your next level based on the requirements of the previous system and the revised system will take effect after that.

That’s not how I read it. If you are currently level 70 and under the current system it takes 10,000xp (just picking a random #) to move to level 71 and the same to level 72 but under the new system those jumps take 30,000xp each then under the new system your move to 71 would still be 10,000xp but then to go from 71-72 will take 30,000xp. At least that was my take away.

If we look at the case of a hypothetical zwifter who, when this gets implemented, is at level 98 with 570,000xp. They complete their current level under the old system, getting to level 99 with 580,000xp. How many xp do they need to get to level 100? Is it 420,000?

I understand that it is unlikely that anyone is in this exact situation, but that’s the potential worst case scenario. So what is the likely highest level zwifter with the lowest xp, and how many xp per level would they need to get to level 100 under the new system?

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I have no clue what the points needed will be on the new system. I don’t really care. I was just commenting on switching from Current system to the new system. The clip on the bottom of my last post, was clipped from the announcement

Hi all,

For existing Zwifters, the main thing that’s going to change with the revised 100-level system is the amount of XP required to go between levels.

For example, in the current 100-level system, the average amount of XP required to level-up between any two levels between L71-L75 is 8,000 XP per level, and the average amount of XP to level-up between any two levels between L91-L100 is around 11,000 XP per level.

When the revised 100-level system rolls out, the average amount of XP required to go between any two levels (above Level 27) will be gradually and proportionally increased. For example, the average XP required to level-up between any two levels between L71-L75 is planned to increase to around 15,000 XP per level, and the average amount of XP to level-up between any two levels between L91-L100 is planned to increase to around 22,000 XP per level.

For a new Zwifter who joins after the revised 100-level system rolls out, those increased amounts of XP between levels will cumulatively add up to 1,000,000 XP. We’ll make some changes to the original post to make this clearer.

I thought it was perfectly clear, consider blacklisting anyone who was confused from the hypothetical Community Review & Complaint Board

Before L91-L100 is around 11,000 XP per level. (99,000XP)
After L91-L100 is planned to increase to around 22,000 XP per level. (198,000XP)

This is just so wrong… :rage:

I can’t believe that Zwift chose to do this at about 1 month since the fervor had died down from the first change.

The last change had several weeks of complaints, comments and lots of math!!

Lets slowly pull the band aid off then put a new one on and pull it again.

I feel like the proposed changes is where it should be. I don’t think these decisions are done lightly. If it’s wrong, fix it. And they’re doing that. 1 million xp is a real accomplishment. 591k can be done in a few years… I know, because I’m there right now.

It used to be 25k per level from 51-60 right? Or was it 30?

Essentially 10,000kms to go from level 91-100? No thanks. At that point XP points would offer no incentive to me (much like the levelling from 50-60 was going under the pre-level 100 system.

@evan-zwift

Can Evan/Zwift HQ provide more detail on how this will work for “double Chevron” folks?

In the last change, HQ wrote:
2x Chevrons (>>) Means you’re moving from the old 60-level table to the new 100-level table and will end that transition at the level described (e.g. Level 20 >> Level 59 means you’ll end your transition at level 59) and as a result will be receiving up to a 20% discount on the required amount of XP need to earn your next levels until you reach that final level of transition.

It’s a bit confusing…
For example, at the time of the first revision I was at level 55 and receiving discount until level 98. Now I am now at level 68 with over 675,000 XP. Does this effectively mean that even though I’d already done enough three months ago to be at level 98 by today’s system that I will have to do more to get there as of May? (Also, if 591,000 XP is the current correct number for Level 100, then I’ve already surpassed that mark despite being technically still at level 68).

I think there are many others in a similar predicament so clarification would be appreciated. Also has the option of allowing those in this situation just to be moved to the correct level without a protracted discount leveling phase in the new system been considered?

In the 60-level system, L51-L55 required 20,000 XP to level-up between each level; L56-60 required 30,000 XP between each level. There were actually 19 different levels throughout the 60-level system that required 20,000 XP, but that curve didn’t have a consistent increase (e.g. L34 was 20,000 XP, L35 was 10,000 XP, L36 was 20,000 XP).

Amazing, both my guesses managed to be correct.

The inconsistent steps never made sense to me but it was still fun to get to one of the “short” levels and see the line move faster. Especially when trying to rush to level 37 to unlock the Scott Addict before a ZRL season started.
