Streak and XP Leveling Adjustments [April 2024]

Yet another change to levels that is, at best, a short term fix. The maximum level of 100 requiring 1,000,000 XP has already been passed by many Zwifters. Make this change significant enough to cover even the highest levels of XP within the community with enough free head space to cover the foreseeable future.

Levels 51 to 60 were added at the end of 2022. Level 60 requiring 750,000 XP

The “increase” to 100 levels never made sense. The top level currently only needs 591,000 XP which is equivalent to Level 55 on the 60 level system so was actually a backwards step.

Please make this change significant enough that no more changes will be required for a number of years.

Bottom line though I stopped caring about XP and levels once I got my real world bike in game. I tend to notice when the drops pass another million but other than that they’re pretty “pointless” as well. I ride on Zwift for my winter time physical exercise and that is my motivation.

Thanks

yep, same here, so zwift is an exercise app, rather than a computer game, so XP and levels doesn’t really come into things

I was already over 800,000XP and stuck at level 50 for quite a long time before 51-60 was added and I got pushed back to 500,000XP because someone thought I’d enjoy earning my way back to level 60.

And I’m at level 103 now with over 1,500,000XP, getting towards three times the amount needed for level 100 if your numbers are right. And there are folks riding for longer than me with far more XP than that.

For someone who has mentioned in multiple posts in this thread that you do not care about XP or levels, you sure seem to be invested in the outcome of all of this

Most the talk about XP misses an important point.
Zwift’s main goal should not be to develop a system of XP or Drops to please the masses or show fitness rather than use these carrots to keep people paying subscriptions.
They have missed the point.
People are upset and confused over the new system and most of the benefit can be obtained using the free monthly 25 k.

Are you referring to new as in what was just announced or the December XP changes.?

All of it.
Zwift is a business.
They need employees to design and improve the product.
They need happy customers to pay for subscriptions to pay for the employees.

I like Zwift better than all the Winter alternatives but not better than riding outdoors.

They missed an opportunity to nudge people to keep their subscription active.
Instead, people are complaining.

I cant disagree, but since I ride Zwift year round for orthopedic injuries I suffer through the XP changes like I have since 2016. These past few months have been enjoyable for me seeing the orange line move faster. I bought the Core Zwift One to give my Kickr v5 a break. Ive just about decided after the year free subscription and 8 years with Zwift to take my business elsewhere.

Exactly my feeling, too.

I still think Zwift is the best but they have missed opportunities.
It’s the unforced errors that are frustrating.

And as we often see, the people who post in complaint threads to say “I actually like this thing” are often blasted–“Good for you!” Makes it harder to count up the non-complainers when they often aren’t welcome in conversations.

In addition to my previous observations and comments there is one other consideration in order to establish a system that is future proof.

By all means establish a curve where its relatively easy to move up the levels initially. However that curve can’t continue getting steeper indefinitely otherwise the step from one level to the next will become too great and another adjustment will be necessary. It must become a straight line at some point where each additional level requires the same increase in XP.

That way future growth continues to be possible just by adding extra levels without requiring additional, frustrating adjustments.

Yeah, when the steps between levels become too great they can start to lose their effectiveness as an incentive. For example, I’ve recently reached Level 7 in Garmin Connect, but that’s not even half way to the points required for Level 8.

I didn’t know Garmin connect had levels, I knew it had badges, but can’t remember the last time I earned one

I’m one of those who ignores everything in Garmin connect except for its ability to upload an activity from a Garmin device to connected services.

My entire expectation of Connect is for it to do that within a minute or so of the activity finishing and being saved on the Garmin.

And sometimes it cannot even manage that.

I’m level 4 in Garmin Connect. Progress is even slower there than it is in Zwift. They do have more badges though!

Are you listening to us? Because the top replies are mostly negative. I’m at level 64, but have enough XPs for 84 thanks to the last change. Here’s how you fix this:
Keep 1-100 as is.
Move everyone to the level designated by their current points (and give them associated gear).
Create 100+ levels for “elite” riders that are challenging.
Then stop changing it! Eventually you will add more levels.
This is win-win for all of us. Attainable levels thru 100 for average riders then challenging levels for the elite riders.

Hi Lee!
I have started Zwift early 2017, so I know how hard it was to reach level 25… than 50 comes, didn’t find the next 25 levels as hard as the first once.
With the chance to expanding up to level 100, I found I was flying through them . Currently at level 81,
Of course it’s going to be another hard yakka until I’ll reach Level 100.
But eventually I get there.
Why easy if you can do it the hard way too :joy:
Cheers and ride on
Rob

I’m about to hit level 100 in the coming week, after doing it the “easy way” *
I’m just glad that I’ll have unwound the level 60 and the OG level 100 banked XP finally !
(* easy way because I’ve got 1.76m XP & 79,000km “in the bank” )
After being stuck in the Level 50 void for 2yrs or so, it was nice to motor thru levels, but really level 100 should have been 1m XP from the start, an iconic level number needs an iconic XP number.
As you go thru the levels there reaches a point where you don’t really need stuff (cough level 42 cough) and levels can start to have big gaps, for the simple reason that if you’re at that level you’re doing a lot of KM per week and riding zwift for all 12 months, rather then taking the summer off.

It must be the little badge beside your avatar I guess. Appears to say I’m level 3.

Though for years and years I never used Connect - always uploading rides manually by connecting Garmin to computer then drag/drop into whatever application. I had never noticed and and never pay attention to the badges.

The only thing I pay attention to is when it decides to slowly upload my ride or if the Garmin won’t sync. That’s the only thing it should really do.
