Have you found a fix for this? I’m experiencing the same issue. Thanks
Use a MTB for dirt courses. Zwift changed the rolling resistance of dirt a while back so road bikes are slower than molasses on it.
If it’s just a short stretch of dirt on your route suck it up but if the route is fully in the jungle ride a MTB.
But everyone is zooming by me
This doesn’t sound right. I’m on Cannondale evo and ENVE 3.4
Not enough info to fully answer but it could be that they were carrying more speed going into the section than you, if so it will take longer for the drag effect of the dirt to slow them down. They could be putting out more power than you, same outcome as before.
Typically on a real short stretch of dirt I don’t see my speed decrease much. But if it’s a longer stretch (>300-400 meters) my speed will decrease by about 5-10km/h. Just something to suffer through until the tarmac reappears or use that section as an interval and increase your power output to limit the speed loss.
I’ve ridden this route several times in the past and this has never happened to me. It was so drastic that it shocked me.
It is more noticeable in races when everyone is pushing hard.
When you just ride many people use road bikes and there’s few on mtb’s
The solution for me was to update Zwift on Apple tv. Then the problem went away. And I have not seen it recur since.
I’m going to try a spin down to see if that helps.
- Pave the jungle route (all dirt except for specific gravel/dirt only routes). The dirt destroys any route that touches the jungle (any route up the Alpe, Four Horsemen, Mega Pretzel, Uber Pretzel, Road to Ruins, etc.)
- Going slower on dirt with the justification that it is more realistic is seriously flawed at best when you have dinosaurs, rain has no impact on speed, rain doesn’t turn dirt to mud, etc.
- Give us an option to turn off the pace partner messages. They get REALLY OLD after a while.
- Level 51?
Thanks!
