After the latest update that Zwift performed today to the platform, I now cannot get the manual resistance or “incline” to work in the workout mode on a ride. ERG mode seems to be working fine, however no change happens to the resistance in workout mode when I try to manually select. Both Zwift and Kickr are on updated newest platforms, connected via ANT+ dongle to my Macbook. Also performed a spindown via the Wahoo app. Trainer is showing as connected under the Resistance option in Zwift. Worked perfectly for years until this latest update today
Someone else has separately mentioned this today on Reddit. Possibly an issue with the update like you suggest
I am the reddit poster also having this problem where incline resistance changes during a workout do no work. I am running windows 11 with a kickr core. I did multiple full power cycles of my laptop and trainer. I also did a full reinstall of zwift on my laptop.
I tried running the trainer on both ANT+ (through dongle) and bluetooh, and it still doesnt work.
Running zwift from my phone however does work. so this must be an issue with the windows version of zwift.
Hey Rick,
I don’t think it’s a windows only issue. I’m running Mac OS and having the same issue. How did you get it to work on your phone? It seems that the free ride mode works fine where the trainer is changing resistance with the virtual ride terrain, however I cannot manually change resistance in workout mode when doing a structured workout via the app’s “incline” option in the workout screen. The option pops up and I can toggle resistance up and down (both in the app and on the laptop) however the resistance doesn’t change at all
I didn’t do a thing special, just installed zwift on my phone and connected everything via Bluetooth. Worked as expected. I specifically was testing virtual gradient during a workout.
So in your test, you did not enable ERG mode, and instead tried to change resistance via the controls in-game or in the companion app or with Zwift controllers? Is that correct?
I guess its worth adding that when running on my laptop, in a workout, in incline mode (NOT ERG). adjusting slope (not target power). I could see the bar on the side moving up and down indicating slope was increasing, this correlated to the slope bar filling up on the companion app. All indications showed that virtual slope/resistance should be increasing.
Rick, same exact scenario for me as well. I can manually adjust the incline on the laptop and even on the companion app, however nothing happens to the actual resistance on the trainer. The incline bar moves as if it should be adjusting, however nothing happens
@Paul_Southworth any thoughts on a fix for this?
I have same problem with my Elite Justo. Currently I Paired Garmin with trainer and use Garmin as resistance controller.
The resistance in resistance mode doesn’t change, the slider moves but the resistance stays the same. In erg and free ride resistance changes.

Hiya
Been using an Elite Suito-T for a couple of years, but as of new version update, the resistance control doesn’t work in free ride mode any more on iOS. Still works fine in training programmes etc, just not the Riders Choice workouts.
Couldn’t get it to work on my iPhone today running 1.113.0. Worked on my iPad running 1.112, then now no longer working since updated that to 1.113.0 as well
Having the same issue here. Are the people at Zwift working on a solution? Assume a Zwift update will be released to solve the problem?
Hi @Arhu
Thanks for sharing the details on Zwift Forums. I’m Haziel from Zwift Support, and I’ve got a few tips to help with those resistance issues you’re dealing with.
I had a look at the logs and noticed several BLE disconnections during your sessions. That’s probably why the resistance slider in Resistance Mode isn’t really doing the job, even though it feels fine in ERG and Free Ride.
Here are a couple of things you can try. First up, check out this article on Bluetooth troubleshooting. It has some good tips for reducing interference, like moving your rollers closer to your PC, turning off extra Bluetooth devices around, or even changing your Wi-Fi channel. If that doesn’t do the trick, try using the Zwift Companion App as a bridge to connect your Elite Nero; this step usually stabilizes the connection.
Additionally, please make sure that the trainer is not connected to any other app that might be affecting the connection. If that is the case, please fully close other apps.
Let us know if either of those fixes it for you! If you need more assistance, feel free to contact us.
Ride On.
I tried changing the slider many times, nothing happened, when I switched to erg I immediately felt the increase in resistance.
similar reports of this happening over here (SIM) Resistance Controls Not Working in Workout Mode after updating to 1.113.0 [May 2026] - #11 by Arhu
Same here. Tried a kickr and kickr core, and tried both ant+ and bluetooth pairing but the same issue exists in all scenarios.
Really, really not happy about this to be honest. Basic feature that has worked for years.
I sent this topic link to zwift staff who are looking at it. You could also contact support to see if they can spot something in your logs. There is no guarantee of a support response to a forum post.
didn’t see that but there is a thread full of other people with the same problem! (SIM) Resistance Controls Not Working in Workout Mode after updating to 1.113.0 [May 2026]
just adding myself to this thread. Same problem, Elite Nero smart rollers
