Hi all
I’m new to Zwift and love the platform! After doing a few rides I experienced instances where my timer for a segment (eg sprint, KOM, etc) suddenly jumped to an illogical high number, resulting in me being clearly last in the live results.
Initially I thought this was a one off, but I’ve experienced it now at least 3-4 times. Today I’ve completed the Zwift Camp Hilltop Hustle climb. As shown in the screenshot, one sector apparently took me 161 minutes (it did not), ending up with a total of 176 min, when my total ride ET was only 26 min.
This is obviously quite frustrating when it comes to setting PRs and being able to compare myself to the rest.
Appreciate any support.
Ride on.
Chris
Here the response from Zwift Technical Support:
Welcome to Zwift! We are stoked to have you with us, though I am sorry to hear that your segment times are glitching. That is definitely frustrating, especially when you are pushing for a PR.
The good news is that this is usually a quick fix. This “jump” in time happens when the internal clock on the device you are using to run Zwift is out of sync with our servers.
Please try these steps on your device (PC, Mac, iPad, Apple TV, etc.):
Check Date & Time Settings: Go to your device’s system settings and find the Date & Time section.
Toggle “Set Automatically”: Ensure that the option to set the time automatically is turned ON.
Pro Tip: If it is already ON, turn it OFF for a few seconds and then turn it back ON. This forces the device to “ping” the time server and resync.
Check Time Zone: Ensure your Time Zone is set correctly for your actual location.
For your Alpe du Zwift ride tomorrow, I also recommend giving your router and your device a quick restart before you clip in. This ensures a fresh connection, as network drops can sometimes contribute to timing lags as well.
Another thing that can mess with timers is if you are running on a phone, tablet, or Apple TV and you put the app in the background. It has to be on screen all the time on that type of device.
