We’re excited to share that running activity tracking is now integrated into Zwift’s Fitness Trends and Goals features. It requires Zwift Companion version 3.78 or later. Update to the latest version on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
What’s included at launch:
Include Running toggle on ZC Fitness Trends – you can enable running data on the Weekly Goal settings page in Zwift Companion.
Sport-specific bar graph differentiation – The daily bar graph on the fitness widget will visually distinguish between running and cycling activities, so you can see at a glance what you did each day.
Separated activity borders – If you complete both a running and cycling activity on the same day, you’ll see a clear border separating the two within the daily bar.
Combined Training Score - Your Training Score and Fitness Trends graphs will now always include both your cycling and running activities.
Combined goals (for now) – at launch, if the Include Running toggle is on, goals will be a single overarching target covering both running and cycling rather than sport-specific. Expect this to evolve over time.
Outdoor runs count too – Make sure you track your outdoor runs on a Garmin or Wahoo device that supports running, and have your Garmin or Wahoo account connected to Zwift. Outdoor runs will sync in and earn XP, just like outdoor rides do.
Runs count toward weekly streaks — Running activities will count toward your weekly activity streaks, starting Monday February 16, 2026 at midnight UTC.
How it works
When the Include Running toggle is enabled, any running activities count toward a single combined goal alongside your cycling activities. For Stress Points (SP), the calculation depends on the best available data:
If your activity includes heart rate data, we use that to calculate the SP for that activity.
If the activity doesn’t have heart rate data, we use the RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) from that activity as synced from Garmin or Wahoo.
For Zwift activities without heart rate data, we default to an RPE of 5.
This is a first step toward multi-sport support in our Fitness Tracking tools.
Whoa …major change on the fitness trends in companion app, all the sudden it is imported all of my running from Garmin and included that in the fitness score. And of course it doubled everything up that had been run on zwift and also recorded on Garmin. Why can’t this Zwift be smart enough to not import dual recorded events?
Yes but if I remember when you started doing this with outdoor bike rides I had to delete 30 or 90 days worth of rides, will I have to do the same here? And will I have to continue doing it every time just like I do with bike rides? Seems silly that zwift cannot figure out a way to take care of this
Holy cow it went back to the beginning of January of 2025 importing every single outdoor running or walking activity. It also imported dual recorded zwift and Garmin activities back that far. That is a whole lot of individual deletions
I must be doing something wrong. I updated the app to 3.78.2, but I am not seeing the running toggle on my fitness trends goal setting page. I see my outdoor bike rides being imported, but no runs yet.
Update: It seems to be working now. I went into my Companion app and disconnected Garmin and reconnected it. Not sure if that was supposed to be needed since I had already done that previously to get the outdoor rides to show up (which was working fine). Whatever it was, it seems to be working now.
Correct. This in on par with how outdoor cycling activities count in Zwift. Activities need to be captured on a Wahoo / Garmin watch that support this feature in order for outdoor runs to count in Zwift.
My total activity hours toward my weekly goal appear to be included in the total even with ‘include run’ turned off. And it would be nice to see the hours for each type of activity separated.
Android app today. Even with the setting toggled off (as they were by default), my Strava walking activity appeared. I would rather it didn’t contribute to my weekly cycling goal.
Similar here on Android. On Monday this week I hiked with my Garmin. The hike is included in my Fitness Trends display. It contributes to my fitness score and to my tracked metric of Calories. The “Include running” toggle changes nothing.
I was also surprised that the hike made it into the score at all. It is not running. I’m actually OK with that because exercise is exercise and energy expenditure counts regardless of how it’s achieved, but in terms of descriptive accuracy, it’s rather more than just running.
And if I may also add, for people with a Garmin sports watch, and possibly Strava, do we actually need yet another place to set targets and monitor progress. I could just set targets to zero and ignore it within Zwift, but I can’t get rid of the tile, taking up space front and centre, every time I open the app.
Also, FWIW, I’ve chosen to track Calories in Zwift because it’s probably the only metric that can be meaningfully applied across the board to mixed activities.
