Route, Climb, and Workout of the Week Update [August 2025]

With the popularity of Route of the Week, we’re excited to expand our weekly challenges to help you find new and exciting ways to ride.

You’ll now see Route of the Week, Workout of the Week and Climb of the Week together on the Challenges menu of the home screen.

The challenges are selected to provide variety in difficulty and ride length. We will vary the difficulty and ride length of each one weekly.

We would love to hear your feedback! Let us know what you love (or don’t) below.

Love the idea.

All three of the cards show as “leaving soon” for me. Seems like that should only show up maybe a day or two before it switches to a new route/workout/climb, if at all.

Will the corresponding XP bonus vary based on difficulty?

Yeah, my next question would be, how much XP do we get?

Seems like that would be a good thing to show.

Would be nice if the climb of the month was changed to match the climb of the week so you could also free ride into it (only if they are all portal climbs).

Would love to see climb of the week include some of the non-portal climbs like Summit Seeker is doing. If it’s just the portal climbs then it’s not for me but if it’s other longer KOMs that would be great.

I’ve been loving the Route of the Week, so I’m excited about these additions! Having been a Zwift user for six years, there are routes I haven’t done for years that have popped up as Route of the Week offerings - it’s been nice to revisit them.

What I see for me is Workout: Emily’s Short Mix on Figure 8 Reverse in Watopia.

“Col Du Tourmalet Leaving Soon…”

Can we double dip? As in click the route of the week card then load Emily’s Short Mix after entering the world and get credit for both? Or do you only get credit for clicking the card?

I did this and got credit for both. I could see the 500 XP for the route of the week, but I couldn’t see how much I got for the workout of the week (it immediately went to the summary screen. a green banner did come across and after I was done with both, the home screen had both being completed. As to how much XP I received for the workout, not sure…)

Click the Workout of the Week card on the home screen and it’ll tell you how many XP you earned, if you completed it.

First thing I asked myself when I noticed the cards. Would be cool to make the bonus xp equal to ascent in meters.

Please don’t. Now we can choose between 3 portal climbs

Tourmalet as first climb of the week! Ballsy, it takes almost a week to climb

Hi everyone, thanks for all of the quick feedback!

Here are answers to your questions:

  1. The XP reward does vary based on the difficulty of the ride, though we’re still fine-tuning the reward for these.
  2. We agree that the reward needs to be clear on the UI. We’re looking at some options.
  3. You currently need to view each challenge to get credit for the ride, though you don’t have to start the route/workout/climb from the Challenge screen. We will soon change it so that you’re automatically registered for them on log in.
  4. Yes, you can double dip! You just need to make sure you’re registered for both ahead of time until we update that.

And so an XP become less and less relevant.

2x on the :45-hour long climbs!

Just out of curiosity -
If you skip a workout block, do you still get credit for completing the Workout of the Week?

Yes …….

This week’s workout of the week is 1hr30mins, I laughed and closed it until next week.

Maybe they should have a long and short version of the workout of the week. The shorter ones they have for workout of the week will be too short for some folks too. So if they are all short some folks with bigger volume will just never have any that work great for them.
