Robo Pacer Draft Question

i just finished a ride with Constance and it was amazing! no surges, the speed was back to normal, and the draft worked perfectly, too. the feedback was same from all the other regular riders both in watopia and makuri, so i can confirm that everything seems to be back to normal.

it was a fantastic experience to be able to ride with our virtual friend again  thank you so much for taking care of this @DavidP and team!

(just for comparison, i did a 100km ride with constance last week averaging ~300w / 45kph, and 100km today at ~260w / 42kph. 193cm, 85kg, same bike setup.)

I say drop one of the A bots, which no one rides with

I’d get lynched for that too!

Personaly I dislike most routes on Makuri. Therefore only 2 real RP options are there for me to ride on Watopia (Miguel and Maria). I know there a more people that feel the same as I do. So therefore I would like to see the RP bots from Makuri ride every few weeks in a different world (France, Scotland, New York, etc.).

That way people also get to ride more in different worlds than now is the case.

Hmmmm. I see your point. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Maybe you could come to a mutual agreement with Tucker Constance to have her leave peacefully. Ratings going down, losing audience. Any rationale.

Sorry about that.

Here is a serious idea. Just like we can adjust the difficulty in a workout (up to 25% higher or lower) why can’t we have that ability to adjust the difficulty on the fly with a Robo if we start with them and stay within the cocoon. It would be like an adjustable powerup. Whatever factor is appropriate, for instance, weight, rolling resistance, CDA, etc. As you warmup you could make it harder and as you get tired or go up hill, you could adjust it to be easier. You could stay with a Robo longer and it would be tailored to each persons needs. Then everyone would have a wider selection of courses to ride since they could adjust the difficulty. This could be a simple arrow up and arrow down on the Companion app.

I’m currently riding with jaques in tempus no surging but your fix hasn’t worked zwift hq still faster more genie pace 27.6 mph 229 watts at 65kg

Where are you positioning yourself in that ride relative to Jacques?

I rode 40km with Maria (2.2) yesterday at 2.15w/kg on a fairly lumpy course, so basically what I’d expect to happen.

I rode with Jacques yesterday. One full lap of TF was 23:41 on 223w. Last time I did that was in December and it was 23:53 on 225w.

Your pace is higher than mine was though, maybe a strong group out front pulling?

Looking at your activity it looks like your average power was 209w.

Drop the Makuri A bot?

The Watopia one usually has quite a few people with it.

after a second day of testing i’m happy to confirm that constance is still keeping a steady pace, just as in the good old times  200km / 250w / 42kph :ok_hand:t2:

the feedback from the community is amazing - the change has been immediately noticed by everyone and the chat around the pace partner is very cheerful again. thanks again for the fix!

I might join you on Friday with Constance. I’m hiding out on ADZ this week so far.

How you do 7 hours with the fast robopacers is beyond me! You are a machine! :+1: I’ve also seen generally good feedback so far.

Before everyone was silent because they were frantically trying to stay with the robot.

with 42kph it is less then 5 hours.

This morning an hour with Maria came out as an avg of 152 watts (2.2 wkg - 70kg at 178cm) which is pretty much what I’d become accustomed to before the recent weirdness.

An hour with Coco was 182 watts (2.6 wkg)

Seems spot on to me. :+1:

What if they had one that put you at 165 to 170? Wouldn’t that be nice?

Why would the draft be different if you are in the middle of the pack versus to the side of the pack when you don’t have any choice about your position? (without steering) Wouldn’t it be fairer for everyone to get the same draft based on the distance from the riders in front of you whether they are directly in front or to the side? IRL you can go decide to increase power to move to the front and out of the draft or you can stay behind in the draft. In Zwift, you can get moved out of the draft by the game, not by intent, and have to increase power to maintain position. Just wondering. If the game is trying to simulate IRL, then we should be able to decide whether we stay in the draft or move out of the draft.

No need. Ride a slow frame/wheels and/or ride off the front a bit more to catch more wind.

That’s the easiest way to make it a bit harder. Or get sprinting.

Definitely all working fine now.
100km with Genie earlier. No surges, nice steady pace
Thank you Zwift team for listening to the forum and making quick changes

Big up

To make riding with Robo Partners a consistent experience it would be better if they were unable to draft riders in front of them as this greatly influences the speed at which they travel.
