With the online medium and the infrastructure in place, I would imagine the marginal cost of broadcasting feeds of men and women’s races simultaneously is low.
With a significant portion of the cycling enthusiasts confined indoors due to COVID-19 and real-world races canceled for the foreseeable future, Zwift is in a great position to be a leader in promoting gender equity. There is no better way of accomplishing this by hosting more women’s races and broadcasting them.
At the WTRL Team Time Trial Premier League broadcast on April 30, the announcers made attempts to drop in on the women’s teams, but the focus remained primarily on the men’s teams. Even if Zwift cannot devote announcers specifically to women’s races, I sincerely hope Zwift can devote a channel, with or without commentary, to women’s races.
