PAS / Gravel Mountain Stage broken

Yeah I was in that race. It did feel far too quick. I ended up just staying in the same gear for the entire race. The only time my position flashed up it said I was 25th but at the finish I was 45th. Given how hectic it was, not having any idea of how well you were doing was utterly confusing. I enjoyed the steering and choosing the fastest line made a real difference. My Aspero seemed really slick on that final straight. It definitely needs work!

No idea if I got the bonus xp or not, I was too focused on trying to find my legs and heart after the finish!

I was on a gravel bike and using the roller on the downhill sections did make a difference! It was also good for the final run to the line

Please turn off the weird visuals and the course will be fine. Double speed plus massive jitter equals motion sickness and headache. I won’t be riding this again.

Yes I did. There just wasnt an uturn option.

Yeah it was mega weird, and the live positions in race were definitely broken, both the total number of riders and my position were way too low. On the last few laps I was shown as 1st of 16 even though there were others one and even two laps ahead of me still in the race (after the finish the results listed me in 46th place or something).

Not sure if I got the 1000 XP either, the end-of-ride graphic showed something like +1450 XP but the current total doesn’t add up.

I live streamed it, and didn’t get any additonal XP at the finish line either. Watched it back to confirm. I did get 105 XP at the end of lap one for the route badge however.

Yeah definitely didn’t get anything on screen at the finish line but the end of ride thing looked like it included the bonus. But the current XP to next level does not add up, even if the whole thing is so confusing I can barely be bothered to pay any attention to it, but I happened to level up in the previous activity just before completing a new route and should also have received the streak bonus on top of that. Zwift happens, I guess.

I rode the 5:15 PM CDT race - The speed, bouncing, and going through rocks and trees was just as bad as the videos I saw earlier. The placement worked throughout the whole ride, though.
What an embarrassment.

I did not get the 1000XP for finishing the race, either.

489XP for the ride
Subtract 105XP for the route completion, that leaves 384XP
12 miles x 32XP = 384XP

As of this moment, Zwifthacks indicates that there are 266 more of these PAS events occurring over the next 7 days. Will they all be this way?

They will until there is a patch.

Please, let there be a patch. Objectively speaking, this course is absolutely gorgeous.

My biggest question about all of this after reading the feedback and watching a video of it is, “Why?” Why even scale the visual speed up in the first place? I’d much rather race a course like this at normal speed for 4-5 laps than 9 laps at ludicrous speed. The route itself looks great and well designed, why rush us through it? And if it’s because of the gravel slower speed stigma that is so often complained about, the solution has been taken much too far into overcorrection territory, it seems.

But a patch seems to imply that something is broken. Many comments seem to make one think that this is all intentional?

There are lots of “right” in this world.
This isn’t one of them.

I have yet to see a single statement from anyone at ZHQ stating anything at all.

I’m actually more surprised I haven’t seen literally anyone talking about this on reddit or the facebook group which to me is crazy.

Wild because Zwift went  on marketing this series.

One of the reasons for my question. Actually, saw this comment on the Zwift Riders FB page, but just a bunch of likes and no comments? .. weird. It sounds like this is all what was to be expected, or at the very least a pleasant surprise.

I assume they will turn off the feature flag for the bumping and the speed. I assume they will patch the edge of the road and or scenery - which is a common bug from other updates

I didn’t enjoy that race from a visual standpoint. The other riders bouncing around just made me laugh so hard that I couldn’t pedal hard. Eventually I ended up on my own and it wasn’t as bad, other than a rider would fly past me at some point only for me to fly past them later. Couldn’t figure out if the line made a difference or not with steering.

Complete the race even though I thought of quitting, and it does not show that the stage is completed on the home screen. I suspect the lack of the 1000XP being rewarded is because it didn’t properly record the race being completed with makes a bad situation worse. It wasn’t enjoyable, and it doesn’t want to give me credit for doing it.

I’ll do the stage 2 and stage 3 races hoping that the speed is just normal. I’ll never complain about the jungle being slow again. I’d rather have it feel closer to reality versus whatever mess I just experienced today.

Stage 4 description:

“Back for more on the brand new Gravel Mountain map. One final chance to line up and close out the PAS Racing Series. Hard routes. Real racing. Finish it strong.”

”Real racing”? Does that mean the 2.5x speeds will be fixed?
