Wahoo and Zwift have enabled the Sensor Bridge feature for KICKR CORE 2 to allow pairing of your Zwift controllers. This requires you update your KICKR CORE 2 to firmware version 2.5.4 or 3.5.4 using the Wahoo app. Here’s how.
This enables your Zwift Ride or Zwift Click 2 connection to be bridged through the Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 and relayed over Wi-Fi.
Eases Apple TV’s Bluetooth connection limit.
Helpful for devices with poor Bluetooth connectivity
This is configured through the Zwift pairing screen only, do not use the Wahoo App. The Wahoo app will show you that there is a controller connected, but this is just a visual.
Bridged controllers will show a trainer icon, like this:
Enabled in KICKR CORE 2 firmware version 2.5.4 / 3.5.4 or higher
Enabled in Zwift Game version 1.104 or higher.
Known bugs:
CORE 2 v.2.5.4 / 3.5.4 firmware + Zwift game version 1.104
When connecting - disconnecting - reconnecting a bridged controller you will see the controller get stuck on connecting. (Don’t disconnect and reconnect the controller)
Not at this time. To overcome Apple TV’s Bluetooth connection limitations, we recommend you pair your Play or Click v1 controllers by bridging the connection with the Zwift Companion app. Here’s how.
I paired Click 2 paired through the Kickr Core 2. I have seen during a few rides that shifts will jump up or down 2 gears. I don’t recall this happening when it was paired via BT. The jump isn’t every shift and some rides all shifts are normal.
Why not the OG Play controllers, too? There’s a lot of them out there, I’m sure.
While I got the Click 2 with my Core 2, I much prefer the Play controllers, both for the way the ergonomics and the fact that I won’t have to fiddle with the tiny screws and change batteries.
