I use the Play controllers. The team races I do are Club Ladder and we encourage everyone on the team to get a steering device of some kind. We have had bad experiences when one rider doesn’t have one, but it’s been a while since that has happened. It has certainly ruined some races. I suspect teams that do TTT should be even more concerned about it but I don’t know the current experience for that with all the unannounced changes that have been going on. Someone else will probably pipe up about it and let us know.
I have recently joined a race team and they have asked me to not use steering, so I am slightly perplexed in what to do. Like you said, someone might just pipe up about it on here , or my new team mates might have an answer. Thank for the reply anyway Paul
If you don’t steer, you still have a better auto steering algorithm than having no steering. You take better lines through corners, you can ride the full width of the road etc. You can generally follow a non-steerers wheel but they can’t follow yours. You need to actively steer in front of them to keep them in the draft.
The new dynamics being tested seem to be an attempt to fix this but they have their own set of problems.
The old HUD had a button you could click to turn steering on or off. We just need that button back, or put that functionality in the settings.

When is Zwift going to do something about steering in TTT, where players who don’t have zwift play have issues drafting on players with zwift play with steering on? Can’t Zwift do a setting to turn steering off? Or disable steering in TTT events? It doesn’t make any sense how players struggle to draft on me when my steering is on, but I don’t touch the steering at all. It’s annoying how I want to use virtual shifting, but my team mates struggle to draft off of me because I use zwift play. I am probably going to have to start disabling zwift play and using zwift click for TTT which is annoying. This has been an issue for a year.

I have tried to find existing request for this so in case there is one please direct me to that one and I upvote there and remove this request.
Ability to turn of the steering on the Zwift ride in settings so that you can participate in TTT events with a team where some riders don´t have steering. Right now the line will be messed up and some riders often end up on the side with no draft if someone have steering on.
Or even better, fix the bug that cause this behavior
