Option to turn off steering in game settings

Follow this steps for a workaround.

That’s good, it works.

Nevertheless, it would be nice to implement it as an option in the menu.

Even when I used kickr Bike steering the other day I found myself getting steered always toward other riders even when I wanted to stay away from them.

I deliberately steered to the edge of the road to avoid getting auto braking sticking me behind heavier riders and to prevent people following me when I just want to be left alone.

It would be nice for the TT bike to have a no-draft option so that it doesn’t provide draft to other riders except in team time trial events.

I have the same problem. Is Zwift forcing me to buy another useless toy to race? No, I’ll find a team that drives without steeringšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Is zwift aware that the steering causes TTT riders who don’t have steering to get stuck in the middle of the road when the rest of the team is using steering?

It’s been a while since i’ve had a TTT where i had actual draft when riding, half the race i’m stuck in the middle of the road, no draft, the rest of the team moves in behind the leader..

If this isn’t fixed i can’t keep doing TTT, and zwift play isn’t purchasable in my country, nor should it be required for TTT, it ruins the experience for anyone who doesn’t have it..

The TTT event organizer can request to disable steering if they choose to do so.

Also this discussion:

True, but it still seems like a bug to me.
And WTRL is never going to listen to the problems of a few users who can’t afford the shiny new things.
Guess if zwift isn’t going to do anything about it, TTT loses it’s meaning for me and i will go back to riding zone 2 until i get bored and eventually lose interesst for the whole platform.
speaking hypotetically ofcourse…

Zwift are testing pack dynamics v5 in Watopia only, which does make some changes to how this works. My experiences with it are a mixed bag. I don’t know if that’s enabled in the WTRL events.

When an organizer operates an event in a way that I don’t enjoy, I don’t come back to those events. It’s all in their hands currently.

Use this to disable Steering with ZwiftPlay.
All other functions will work including breaking and it takes you 5sec.

I use it all the time.

Unfortunately, the nice workaround no longer works. It seems that Zwift has fixed this ā€œbugā€. And there is still no option in the menu to deactivate the steering.

Any update on this Juan? This has been a known issue since very shortly after the release of the Zwift Play controllers and the issue is more and more prevalent as the Zwift Ride and Virtual Shifting in general is being adopted. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth to have bought a set of controllers that actively make my time on Zwift harder rather than easier.

I’d really appreciate some acknowledgement of the problem from Zwift and then quickly provide us the very basic and reasonable option to allow connecting the controllers but disable steering.

I want to second that actively. I don’t think that we are only four or five people, but many more who would love to see a solution. Even if it looks like a small problem regarding the low number of people who answer here. That’s why I write again, I have the feeling that it is necessary that more people speak.

It can’t be the best solution to always switch between Click and Controllers, I bought the controllers to NOT use the click anymore.

Hi All,

I would also really like an option to turn off steering but for a very different reason. My left play controller is buggie and just jams on in left steering mode. If I do a controller reset and charge them fully (even when they are nearly 100% charged) the problem seems to go away but it comes back quickly. I love virtual shifting and the ability to control the game from the handlebars. I don’t really have a need for steering and my whole Zwift experience is completely wrecked when the left steering jams on. I live in Kazakhstan so a replacement set of controllers is very, very, very complicated. I have made sure game version and firmware versions are 100% up to date.

Please Zwift let us turn steering off!!!

Thank you

Adrian

I have no use to steering either, but I like changing gears from handlebars. So is there an option yet to switch steering off?

Yes this would be great, has a solution come up yet? What happens if you just don’t steer, does it automatically act as if its off anyway?

No, the Click shifter is the only option that supports Zwift’s virtual shifting feature but not steering.

Thats crazy, so my team mates have asked me to turn off my steering and I cannot then. But does it not act like its deactivated if I do not touch the steering?

It sort of does but your avatar’s draft seeking behavior may differ from riders without a steering device paired. Exactly how that works depends on whether some feature changes currently being tested by Zwift are applied or not. There’s no guarantee that you will know one way or the other before a given event.

So do I not touch the steering and hope for the best, or try and steer into position? It makes you think about using click again. What a balls ache . What do you do Paul?
