Option to turn off steering in game settings

Any update on this Juan? This has been a known issue since very shortly after the release of the Zwift Play controllers and the issue is more and more prevalent as the Zwift Ride and Virtual Shifting in general is being adopted. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth to have bought a set of controllers that actively make my time on Zwift harder rather than easier.

I’d really appreciate some acknowledgement of the problem from Zwift and then quickly provide us the very basic and reasonable option to allow connecting the controllers but disable steering.

I want to second that actively. I don’t think that we are only four or five people, but many more who would love to see a solution. Even if it looks like a small problem regarding the low number of people who answer here. That’s why I write again, I have the feeling that it is necessary that more people speak.

It can’t be the best solution to always switch between Click and Controllers, I bought the controllers to NOT use the click anymore.

Hi All,

I would also really like an option to turn off steering but for a very different reason. My left play controller is buggie and just jams on in left steering mode. If I do a controller reset and charge them fully (even when they are nearly 100% charged) the problem seems to go away but it comes back quickly. I love virtual shifting and the ability to control the game from the handlebars. I don’t really have a need for steering and my whole Zwift experience is completely wrecked when the left steering jams on. I live in Kazakhstan so a replacement set of controllers is very, very, very complicated. I have made sure game version and firmware versions are 100% up to date.

Please Zwift let us turn steering off!!!

Thank you

Adrian

I have no use to steering either, but I like changing gears from handlebars. So is there an option yet to switch steering off?

No, the Click shifter is the only option that supports Zwift’s virtual shifting feature but not steering.

Thats crazy, so my team mates have asked me to turn off my steering and I cannot then. But does it not act like its deactivated if I do not touch the steering?

It sort of does but your avatar’s draft seeking behavior may differ from riders without a steering device paired. Exactly how that works depends on whether some feature changes currently being tested by Zwift are applied or not. There’s no guarantee that you will know one way or the other before a given event.

So do I not touch the steering and hope for the best, or try and steer into position? It makes you think about using click again. What a balls ache . What do you do Paul?

I use the Play controllers. The team races I do are Club Ladder and we encourage everyone on the team to get a steering device of some kind. We have had bad experiences when one rider doesn’t have one, but it’s been a while since that has happened. It has certainly ruined some races. I suspect teams that do TTT should be even more concerned about it but I don’t know the current experience for that with all the unannounced changes that have been going on. Someone else will probably pipe up about it and let us know.

I have recently joined a race team and they have asked me to not use steering, so I am slightly perplexed in what to do. Like you said, someone might just pipe up about it on here , or my new team mates might have an answer. Thank for the reply anyway Paul
