I use Zwift Play for virtual shifting and I really like it. And I love riding TTTs.
Problem, often it’s better to ride TTTs without steering! And it annoyingly can’t be disabled when I use the Zwift Play Controllers.
Please add the option to disable steering in Zwift while using the Zwift Play controllers. Then I could ride the TTT without steering and still switch gears with the controllers.
This would definitely please many Zwift Play users
Even when I used kickr Bike steering the other day I found myself getting steered always toward other riders even when I wanted to stay away from them.
I deliberately steered to the edge of the road to avoid getting auto braking sticking me behind heavier riders and to prevent people following me when I just want to be left alone.
It would be nice for the TT bike to have a no-draft option so that it doesn’t provide draft to other riders except in team time trial events.
Is zwift aware that the steering causes TTT riders who don’t have steering to get stuck in the middle of the road when the rest of the team is using steering?
It’s been a while since i’ve had a TTT where i had actual draft when riding, half the race i’m stuck in the middle of the road, no draft, the rest of the team moves in behind the leader…
If this isn’t fixed i can’t keep doing TTT, and zwift play isn’t purchasable in my country, nor should it be required for TTT, it ruins the experience for anyone who doesn’t have it…
True, but it still seems like a bug to me.
And WTRL is never going to listen to the problems of a few users who can’t afford the shiny new things.
Guess if zwift isn’t going to do anything about it, TTT loses it’s meaning for me and i will go back to riding zone 2 until i get bored and eventually lose interesst for the whole platform.
speaking hypotetically ofcourse…
Zwift are testing pack dynamics v5 in Watopia only, which does make some changes to how this works. My experiences with it are a mixed bag. I don’t know if that’s enabled in the WTRL events.
When an organizer operates an event in a way that I don’t enjoy, I don’t come back to those events. It’s all in their hands currently.
Unfortunately, the nice workaround no longer works. It seems that Zwift has fixed this “bug”. And there is still no option in the menu to deactivate the steering.
If you don’t steer, you still have a better auto steering algorithm than having no steering. You take better lines through corners, you can ride the full width of the road etc. You can generally follow a non-steerers wheel but they can’t follow yours. You need to actively steer in front of them to keep them in the draft.
The new dynamics being tested seem to be an attempt to fix this but they have their own set of problems.
The old HUD had a button you could click to turn steering on or off. We just need that button back, or put that functionality in the settings.
