Add me to this camp as well, if my avatar noticeably slows down when I hit gravel then I should feel increased resistance in the pedals.
At bare minimum, yes, absolutely.
And I agree with Aaron on the increased drops; sure, why not!
If folks like to spend drops, and the rate at which you level up is distance based⦠this is a reflection of indeed a major part of why Jungle is bad for⦠many folks.
get out with that logic
To bring a change in pace⦠hah (joke will make sense in a second).
What is the perceived reason people dislike the jungle / gravel / dirt in Zwift. Is it the speed?
Is it the rate at which thereās a change in scenery?
Would a āflatterā jungle bring more interest?
Personally I ādislikeā the jungle more because Iām so used to traveling up it more than down, so my perception is that itās slow regardless. (donāt get me wrong, I donāt hate the jungle, to me itās just an old path thatās not all too interesting anymore; I personally feel as though Iāve seen everything there is to see; where even on things like Tempus of all places Iām still finding new objects every few weeks which is what really makes me enjoy certain routes on Zwift; and thatās quite the feat after several years of being on Zwift now!).
Iām going to throw this out there and am curious what everyone here thinks:
Is anyone else here under the impression that the issue is more of the fact that the jungle has just been worn out, and is a ātransitional areaā to get to places most folks want to ride?
Is the only real reason most people dislike the jungle is because itās an old circuit with limited things to see and interesting scenery to begin with?
And last:
Would a flatter more open-vista āgravelā route be more interesting, where there is more visible scenery?
As a re-statement, one of the things I like most in Zwift is being able to see things out in the distance and be like āI can ride there!ā. And other unique scenery items I havenāt seen before (if anyone rides with me, you know I like to point out some weird stuff folks may not have ever seen; such as the gargoyle squirrels in Crit City).
Would a flatter, open gravel path bring more interest?
Speed is always the bigger complaint here; but given enough work to make a world/route interesting enough, speed shouldnāt matter⦠right? (Unless youāre just the person who wants to hit a checkbox of a specific distance of course.)
(and again with XP; if XP had a revisit on gravel / lower [higher?] Crrās, I think weād see an increase in traffic / interest globally for sure.)
Thatās the same for everyone - Iām probably lighter than you and need to pay attention as well.
Otherwise canāt you just use workout mode?
Sometimes you have a set amount of time you can use for Zwift then you have to stop. Thatās the tipping point between Road to Sky on Zwift and using Alpe dāhuez on Fulgaz where you are doing just the climb right away and nothing else.
If I am short on time Iāll use Fulgaz. Itās also closer to the real thing.
But that has more to do with the spawn point for riding ADZ and nothing to do with what the rolling resistance is riding through the jungle (which is what this topic is about).
Iāll leave you to debate that point with Gerry.
