New settings for Elite Novo Force

As stated by many members on this forum, Zwift overestimetes the power of Elite Novo Force (8 resistance levels).

It’s great that Zwift supports dumb trainers. However this is not good support.
I think most of us feels frustrated when we discovered that the Elite Novo Force isn’t actually suported by Zwift. Specialy when this situation could easly be fixed just by add the correct power curve.

To add extra support to the claims of over estimation of power by Zwift, I requested the Power curves to Elite and did the followin experiment.

  • Recored the ride in Zwift and at the same time with my Garmin Edge recored the wheel speed.
  • With the power curve provided by Elite I ploted the power estimated by Zwift and the actual power with the power curve for the Elite Novo Force in level 3.

As you can see, in the figure. Using resistance level 4 or 5 would give you much more realistic values.

Meanwhile I found a very interesting project on github and made some modifications in order to be able to use the eight resistance levels available on Elite Novo Force.
The Virtual Power calculated is based on the Power curves provided by Elite for this specific trainer.
