New Halo Bikes, New Drop Shop Bikes [March 2025]

mind blown :exploding_head:

This would be sorted out easily by restricting weight changes to 5kg per day and not allowing any weight changes while the user is in any activity.

Same with height changes, do not allow those during activity and restrict to 5cm per day. Nobody is going to miraculously get 5cm taller in a day nor get conveniently 40cm shorter in a day.

But before anyone says shared accounts, that’s not allowed either.

Hey, me too. What’s going on here? Feels like a conspiracy.

A few of the high level racers are starting to get the Halo bikes - I noticed one already yesterday (Project 74). He’s not one of the biggest distance riders so that’s interesting.

Yes. They could have privately addressed Zwift support. But their real goal is attention to themselves.

Cat… unfortunately lots of people are cheating…. They don’t save their rides or just hide the saves…. They keep inside events and inside closed maps/events so they can’t be tracked….

It’s just sad… if we could do anything… but I believe we can’t…
We do our part Cat! We play clean!

Cheers Cat!

I think it’s fascinating. Some people openly brag about not riding but unlocking. Some hide their shame. The people hiding it know they’ve done something shady, and probably won’t enjoy it.

Fractional benefits that you are ashamed of is not a win.

Meanwhile… there are some hilarious Strava charts where someone suddenly goes from 4 hours to 14 hours a week and then starts smashing out 5 min and 2hr power PRs.

Suzie – you are one of the good guys and I love seeing you riding the honest way!! It’s incredibly frustrating and disappointing that people are doing all these rides and don’t save them, delete them or hide them because they know they are cheating. There are a few who don’t hide them and have bragged on Strava about getting their Halo. Seen too many Halos this last week on people whose distance elevation and hours don’t warrant a Halo.

I know of someone who has all three Halos. He was bragging while dropping Ventop recently.

I wish Zwift would stop it somehow.

I think they closed the loophole where you can sit on the side of the road on a TT bike and rack up the minutes towards an upgrade.

Yes I am aware of that. That was probably a fairly easy fix - although the horse had already bolted and some people got quite a number of TTs unlocked - highest I heard was 8 unlocked but I bet there is higher!

The repeated dropping via teleport is still rife though with people clocking up 100s kms a day without pedalling

I don’t think it is considered cheating. There are not rules to what you need to do to get a halo bike. In real life if you draft behind a Van is that cheating? I done downhill riding off Maui Haleakala, we took a tour van up and it’s 100% downhill. Downhill riding doesn’t = cheating.

Why do they hide / delete “drop” rides. They don’t hide other rides.

let’s not open up that can of worms again, this has been debated enough… I don’t think anyone can agree if this is considered cheating or against the rules/terms of service or not… Zwift has to make that call and either stop this from happening (like they did with the TT bike upgrades) or make an official statement about it (communication isn’t their strong point).

Q1: Yes, drafting behind a vehicle in a race is considered cheating IRL. But there are no vans driving around in Watopia, so don’t know what this means.

Downill riding IRL requires your attention and skill. Downhill in Zwift means you can sit on the couch while enjoying some potato salad. Downhill in Zwift ≠ Downhill IRL

Because other people call them out as cheating on here?

“Downill riding IRL requires your attention and skill. Downhill in Zwift means you can sit on the couch while enjoying some potato salad. Downhill in Zwift ≠ Downhill IRL”

Maybe they playing their own ITT game. How fast can I get down from Ven-top with Zwift play? There isn’t a he must ride like how you want them to ride in a non race. And if they want to say riding downhill from Ven-top is their favorite ride, who is to say they can’t? Remember they are not Zwifting for you or me.

They aren’t actually riding - that is the point - sitting on the sofa watching TV and clicking teleport.

 And they just so happened to have come up with this fun game right when bike upgrades dropped? What a massive, unbelievable coincidence. I mean literally unbelievable–I cannot believe that is the case.

He also did The PRL Full for a badge hunt fairly recently, rather than having his team unlock it.

What’s the point if you didn’t earn it?

Exactly.

I see some of my long time connections on Zwift doing this Alpe/Ventop teleport thing. The biggest “exploit” I have been doing to achieve progress to unlocks lately is to set ERG mode externally to force me to pedal through routes at set power targets to help achieve Lightning Socks faster and improve upon my training efficiency and also achieve distance goals without having to worry about shifting while free riding.

Silly me for “doing it wrong” apparently!

What I would LOVE to see is a significant drop in “No TT Bikes” group ride events. We do all that work and time to unlock the Pinarello Halo Bike and then have to do 200 hours riding on our own to fully upgrade that bike, largely because about 55% of the events on Zwift are set to “No TT Bikes”.

I wish “No TT Bikes” worked as an advisory rather than a forced bike switch, much like joining a RoboPacer with one. People would receive a warning that it doesn’t draft, and if they choose to accept it, that’s on them.

I think the Pinarello Halo Bike is one of the coolest-looking bikes in the game, and once I eventually unlock it, I would be happy to ride with my Zwift friends without “benefit of the draft.”

I spent a lot of time with the SL8 bike riding up Ventop for over a week - it was very disappointing seeing the folks teleporting and descending endlessly with hundreds of kms and minimal elevation. Some of them were obviously setting their weight to 300kg for the downhills. I think you probably know some of them and saw them doing that.

They won’t get fast uphill doing that.

Let’s do, because the teleport loophole must be closed off, same as the bots flying along need to be shut out. Yesterday, 820km at 5-6w/kg… I know some folks want this to be swept under the carpet so they can keep going, but it has to stop.

you know the right people, report them, and I don’t mean using the in game reporting tools…
