But Zwift is a social experience so as part of that you are supposed to embrace all parts of that. 
I know, when someone has obviously had too much coffee and is completely hyper in the chat I also turn it off completely.

Today is December 9th, 2024. I hate the group chat. It’s extremely annoying and distracting. I see a few people above saying you can turn off the chat in Settings. I just tried to find this option in the Companion app on my iPhone and in Zwift on my laptop and cannot find it. On the phone Companion app, I do find Settings\Notifications and I made a few adjustments there, but there is nothing specifically about Group Chats. Am I looking in the wrong area?
Yep. It’s in the main game, not the Companion App.

Since the US election, this has gotten out of hand. I don’t want to read about politics on my bike ride, and the people who take the most pleasure in talking about it are also the people who seem to take the most pleasure in ignoring requests to stop talking about it.
It’s not enough to be able to disable chat entirely, because I do appreciate good natured and helpful chat. We need to be able to mute specific individuals.
I know that there are all kinds of additional use cases to solve when you start letting people mute each other. Please get the basic feature out, and then refine.

I must be lucky that it isn’t on Road to Sky - perhaps those folk are sleeping when I ride it they are scared of steep hills.
Pretty much nobody says anything on ADZ apart from some sarcastic remark when someone zooms past at 7w/kg.

Long Time Zwifter and grateful level 100 rider….. asking for the community to please integrate a mute button for specific riders within group rides/ pacer rides/ race.
There are some that use zwift not only for a workout but for their connection to the world, when others are focused on training.
Seeing people write essays in a hard group ride/race or with a 4.1wk pacer gets frustrating especially when their HR is 90bpm!
I am not going to flag them as they are only cheating themselves- but muting would be nice, as well as being able to mute those “super chatty” individuals we know and love on every ride.
