Minimap too zoomed in [Makuri]

Riding in Makuri, I have been noticing that the minimap sometimes displays a very small area (magnification turned way up) without changing anything, and then eventually returns back to normal. Not being able to see where you are on the map just makes the world even more confusing (and of course I can’t tell if it happens in the same places if I never even know where I am).

So, today I noticed that the same thing happens on the NYC map as well, as you approach Harlem Hill (did 2 laps and same thing happened on both laps).

Baseline:

Getting closer:

Next to 110th Street:

Getting further away again:

I would expect the magnification level to stay constant regardless of where I am on the map. I’m wondering if there is some scaling going on as you approach the edge of the map or something like that.

Minimap closeup is to high.

Same here, was looking forward to the 5th stage of the tour as my first taste of Urukazi.

I like to use the Minimap to get a feel for the lay of the land in new areas, unfortunately this was ruined with it being grossly zoomed in even when “zoomed out” to the max.

Did Turf N Surf yesterday hoping this would just be a one off glitch but it was the same.

All fine in Neokyo but as soon as you get on Urukazi the mini map starts to uncontrollably zoom in. At the top of Urukazi it’s zoomed in so much as to be totally useless.

i reported similar in the main November update thread 11days ago although not sure if they are actively working to fix it.

@shuji is this being tracked as a bug?

Not new, not limited to Urukazi (but definitely on a whole new level there), Minimap magnification changes on its own

I have had this issue since Urukazi launched. The mini map zooms in like this, and I am unable to zoom out. I reinstalled last night to try and solve another bug I noticed, I am hoping that it will fix this issue also. Is it like this for everyone?

Haven’t ridden since the last update. Thankfully we can still have the zoomed out view on the mini map but who needs a map that only shows an orange triangle?

Bumping this since this is still very much a thing, even more so to the point of complete unusability in much the latest Makuri update, and this hasn’t even reached the pit of oblivion known as Known issues.

I see absolutely no reason why the minimap scale should change at all while riding, except when the user clicks on the map to toggle between the three alternatives.

When riding in Urukazi map today, the map zoom levels were incorrect. The “max zoom out” view (i.e. the top-down map view that shows as much of the map as possible) was incorrectly replaced by a super-zoomed in map that showed your avatar’s position and only about 2m surroudning it.

This was consistent/persistent throughout the ride. It persisted through several “cycles” through the different map views. I was in Urukazi so unknown if related to that map or other worlds affected.

I am on an ipad Pro, latest iPadOS version, latest Zwift version (updated yesterday and checked for updates today before ride):

Had this today

Just reporting that this still seems to be an issue.

Hello!

I think i found a bug with the minimap in the main Zwift activity screen.

I have the minimap in the top right corner of the screen most of time in the farthest zoom level.
Rececntly i rode a couple of times the “island hopper” route in Makuri Island.

i noticed that in the northern part of the route, under the two mountain lions, the map zooms continously in the nearer i get until everything in this map ridiculously big.

While riding away from the Mountain Lions in to the souther region of this route the map zooms out again back to norm.

All screenshots are made with the same Minimap zoom level setting.

Been like that since day one of Makuri Island

This fact does not make it any less of a bug.

I have never seen it zoom in that much, and I ride Makuri a lot.

Friendly reminder to post your system specs when reporting bugs as they may be system specific.

This has been a problem on Urukazi since day one (Apple iPad).

Happens to me in Stage 4 - Lap it up, every lap at a certain section of the map. Consistent

I mentioned this soon as Urukazi was released but seems like many things not a priority to fix.

It’s the top part of the map of the climb to shisa sprint from memory is where it’s bad

Which tbh there is a lot of things i’d do before fixing this but it’s still rather frustrating.
