I think this was mentioned in another post, but I can’t find it.
Can we please get rid of the upside down tear drop position marker and just go with a line with the different colors for completed vs remaining?
The position marker can obscure sprint point markers and KOM markers.
In addition, it can obscure other riders positions behind you. That could be an issue in a race.
This screenshot is a little late, but you could easily see how the position marker would obscure dozens of other riders on the mini-map.

My guess is that the reason it’s still there is because once a rider deviates from the originally selected route the green area indicating route progression disappears, and the pointer is the only thing left indicating position.
Of course, the elevation profile, and thus the position indicator, become generally worthless at that point, so perhaps the position indicator should just be removed and, once a rider deviates from the initially selected route, the elevation profile just goes away.
