Just for fun, here’s yet another example of how the zFTP calculation and then everything else along with the current CE system is broken. This guy took 11th in a Zwift Games B race today per a teammate.
Yeah it’s due to the Watt floor, so not directly related to the power curve calculation, but certainly a problem with CE with gives a free pass to some riders. Imagine a similar rider with zFTP at 250W who can’t compete against this rider because they are moved to A. They could be 1W apart and put in different categories.
Il raise you the following, the 20 min effort was done a few weeks back so not today and will be upgraded next time they log in, they are freely entering B now.
People get upgraded by CE before it shows up on the ZwiftPower profile. ZwiftPower is not authoritative for category. If they got an upgrade then it will show up if you search for the rider in Companion. If it’s not there, then there wasn’t an upgrade. Category seen on ZwiftPower is irrelevant to their ability to enter a race.
That guy is about 6w shy of 4.2wkg by zFTP, given the ridiculous 12% zFTP discount.
Did you not read my comment?
The headline figures were produced weeks ago, still racing in category.
Yep I read it. What I saw was “will be upgraded the next time they log in”. What do you mean by that? Did or did not get a category upgrade? Are you talking about some other kind of upgrade?
No, it was to head off responses like yours who rush in to provide balance and suggest he will be updated next time he signs in as zwiftpower fails to refresh the profile…
I’m not trying to provide balance. I think it absolutely sucks. But from your responses I have no idea if this rider got a category upgrade or not. If not then it’s an epic fail for CE.
He hasn’t… still racing in B weeks.
Would be interesting to see pace group on their profile in Companion. I wonder if they are racing events they signed up for before the upgrade (also sucks) or if they got some dispensation from Zwift to remove some events from the CE data. That’s all I’ve got. Otherwise it seems like it has to be a nasty bug.
Apparently zMAP isn’t working then because he’s way over the 5.1 limit
Companion app shows B
10+ events since the headline figures - nothing like error etc in Zwiftpower, still in results for zmap effort.
There’s plenty of strong efforts, so should be a hard sell to say that was out of the ordinary or trainer issue, unless zwift will now write off anyone who asks to stop an upgrade.
Just curious - where can you see his zMap?
We can’t but base it off the 5min effort
it never occurs to you guys to just ask the guy directly? if you just approach someone like youre not some kind of cop they might even tell you and maybe you can actually find out for real if there’s some sort of glitch or issue with how ce works instead of just gossiping. i guess thats the hard part if you already made up your mind about them. not trying to be rude but seriously
How would that user know if there is a glitch? Plus, the user has done nothing wrong so why involve them? Highlighting a system failures is not making it about a single rider.
Its a rule set - it applies to all, there should be no grey area.
Its not the like the user is trying to get around the system by pulling his internet connection on 19 mins and boasting about it on Strava, or setting up kids accounts as they didnt like it when the rules that everybody should follow were applied to them. Its a system failure, not an individual acting up.
unless they are cheating how would they know if they are in the wrong category or not?
the issues seem to be more that Zwift publish numbers for CE that assign a rider a race category and then you have users who are way over those numbers that are below the category that Zwift say they should be in, that doesn’t make much sense does it?
Are you seriously saying someone that has done 4.7wkg for 20min and 5.66wkg for 5min are a B class rider? Bit different for lighter riders as they can hide behind the floor watts, which again need to be scraped, and put out those numbers
i mean if you want to know his actual numbers that define his category, maybe he will tell you if you ask. then you will find out if his zmap is 5.3 or 6.9 or who cares what instead of guessing. nobody from zhq is gonna go look at his numbers, realistically they probably aren’t going to read this thread full stop. if he tells you to ■■■■ off, well thats how it goes.
this kind of nonsense doesnt interest me regardless but just take it as advice because in the long run it’s going to get you further than just assuming anything about what you may or may not be seeing from the outside, if you never take the time to actually even try and find out what precisely is up.
You seem intent on making it about the individual, no one here was doing that till you started posting.
People were talking about & referencing a broken system with examples where people have gone to lengths to ensure the individual cannot be identified.
