In Companion App it is possible to click in the white circle, which will provide Ride Ons for a group of people riding close to you.
It would be nice to have the same feature as a hotkey in the keyboard.
I don’t know about anyone else but i can’t reach my keyboard while i’m riding, but i can reach the screen of the phone that companion app is running on
Absolutely, everyone has their own preferred way of interacting during a ride. I totally get that using the keyboard might not work for everyone, but it’s worth noting that many riders, including myself, find it pretty handy. Zwift actually has several keyboard shortcuts already in place for various functions, so this request aligns with that existing functionality.
This discussion is about adding more options for users, not restricting anyone’s current method. Just like the existing keyboard shortcuts coexist with other interaction methods, this addition wouldn’t force anyone to change their approach. It’s all about enhancing the experience for different preferences.
I appreciate your perspective, but diverse preferences are what make these feature discussions valuable. What works for some might not work for others, and that’s why having multiple options is fantastic.
The first feature request for this here seems to be from 2017… (I myself asked for a shortcut for returning ride ons back in 2020.) Makes a lot of sense for me – simply pressing a key vs grabbing a phone and doing whatever interactions might be needed to unlock it and reopen companion – but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it to get implemented.
There are an absolute mountain of missing keybinds that we should have by now, and everything meanwhile is being shoved into the hotbar which is a bigger hassle on a PC than normal keybinds are in the first place.
lack of camera controls, lack of ability to spectate a forward or rearward rider, lack of ability to brake, lack of ability to give ride ons… you name it, the list goes on and on.
