Is the such a thing as a solid racing bike tire?

Hey folks, I only use my road bike for Zwift and am tired of having to pump my from tire…..Yeah I know, a first world problem. It got me thinking about a solid airless tire. I can see them for mountain bikes but not for racing bikes. Do they exist?

Thanks heaps,

Trev

Yes, there are trainer tires. They’re solid

They do exist, but I haven’t seen them recommended by any wheel-on trainer manufacturers. Most of the manufacturers recommend a trainer tire, which is not solid. Solid tires can also be very hard to install. Of course the best solution would be a direct drive trainer but that would cost considerably more.

Do you mean your front tire, or rear?

If it’s for your rear tire, it’s called a direct drive trainer

They exist but apparently they are really crap. My suggestion get one of those electric mini pumps and schwalbe clik valves, makes inflating tyres really quick and easy

Direct drive trainers really suck of course….after trying smart rollers I could never go back to them

You could buy Tannus airless tires.

It’s for the front. Thanks for this, I’ll check it out.

Get a heavier tube so the air leakage is slower. For instance Continental has their “Hermetic Plus” range of tubes, I have those on my errand bikes (one with 28 mm tyres) and I only have to reinflate them once every 2–3 months. Alternatively a tube meant for a wider tyre will also help.
