that’s part of zwifts issues, changing what it wants to be
when did riding outdoors count towards in game stats etc?
as for the price rise think you might be confusing me with someone else about gyms
My guess is they have looked at the competitive landscape and do not see as much growth potential in just being a virtual riding app. Their pivot to hardware didn’t go smoothly (see plenty of shipping/product complaints in the forum), so now they are trying to pivot into the fitness tracking market. If they are betting their future on that, they are doomed. They are way late to the game, and have two major “generic” competitors out there in Strava and Training Peaks.
oh no, you were saying how cheap it was to ride outdoors…
and then that very week I went through 3 TPU tubes on my commutes to work… I blame you Rich! It’s all your fault!
Personally I see no reason to not do what they’re trying to do.
At the end of the day they’re a software company, and Bryan is right, their hardware falls short in a couple places (eventually gets there, but seems not enough meetings take place to make them really futureproof and feature-set).
I mean again, it’s just in-game XP we’re talking about here, which is still among the most meaningless of benefits in the game itself; and at 1/3rd the range, it’s… barely a cherry on top. It’s really just making use of a pipeline that they had planned on in the first place; and can continue to expand upon.
As long as Zwift doesn’t fall into the “AI” trendline everything else is.
Is going for a ride outside an acquisition? There are games where running outside is the game though. Zombies, Run! is an example. Fitness Fantasy too IIRC.
I used to play one called Run an Empire where you ran around to conquer territory in your locale. Stride, RunQuest and INTVL do similar I think.
Anyway, more relevant to your point: Rouvy has counted outdoor rides for years.
ROUVY uniquely combines Outdoor and Indoor rides in the ROUVY Career feature.
You can import your Outdoor rides from GARMIN Connect and STRAVA to count them for your ROUVY Career’s progression.By uploading your rides you can collect Experience points to unlock new ROUVY Career levels and reward yourself.
I guess they’ll need to remove that “uniquely” now.
I need a button to remove the weekly goal.
Same!! Please add running or let us turn it off!
My outside activities are showing up on the new tracker using a garmin. I have a power meter on my road bike, but not on my mtb. It looks like all my mtb rides are counted as a zone 1 ride - completely in gray. Road rides have the full spectrum of zones showing. If this is the case, it seems like it would skew the training score / stress points quite a bit.
Hello everyone!
Please excuse the bumpy English. I first wrote the text in German and then translated it into English using the DeepL translator.
Hallo Zusammen!
Entschuldigt bitte das holperige Englisch. Ich habe den Text zuerst auf Deutsch verfasst, und dann mit Hilfe des DeepL-Übersetzters ins Englische übertragen.
The Zwift Fitness + Outdoor Tracker should be more intelligent.
I always use my Garmin Fenix to measure my heart rate. I therefore also record the training sessions in parallel on Garmin Connect as an indoor cycling session. The training session at Garmin is usually a few minutes longer than at Zwift due to the pairing process of the devices with the netbook. As you should already know, the distances always differ significantly. I have linked Zwift and Garmin Connect to maintain the streak.
As soon as I save the training session in both Garmin and Zwift, the XPs are also credited for the Garmin session.
- The Zwift Fitness Tracker should recognize that a person cannot possibly do two workouts at the same time.
I also noticed that you can get XPs several times with one single outdoor training session. At Garmin it is possible to delete any training session and upload it again. Each time the same training session is uploaded again, Zwift grants the XPs again. You can repeat this as often as you like.
On the one hand, this falsifies the values and status displays in the new fitness tracker, and on the other hand, this possibility of scamming XPs is unfair to all those who previously had to work out their levels in a - sweaty - way.
As I found out, the status display can be corrected by deleting the outdoor training sessions in the list of your own activities. However, the XPs are retained.
Wie heist es so schön: “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.”

Just noticed that Garmin Connect Training Status information is not updated by Zwift rides auto-uploaded to Garmin.
This means that dual recording with a Garmin device is still required to collect and update Garmin Training Status info, with the resulting duplicates, etc.
Would be great if Zwift ride info could be forwarded to Garmin in such a way that data needed to update Garmin Training Status is included, if such a thing is possible!
Afaik this is Garmin “issue” - seems they don’t want to use data coming from not Garmin devices for all the statistics.
Sad that this hasn’t happened yet! That’s adding Zwift Run to the fitness tracker!
My Zwift activity data, automatically uploaded from Zwift to Garmin Connect, populates my training status stuff. You guys are doing it wrong, you have to sync your device and the number crunching happens on that.
Have you a power meter (or trainer) sending left/right and torque data? These are definitely not recorded in Zwift file.
And you training statistics in Garmin Connect depend on used device - there are more stats when using Edge 540 compared with Venu watch, for example.
What do you mean with “sync your device”? I have Zwift connected with GC, there is no other “device” when I don’t double record.
The training stats and numbers are calculated on the Garmin device.
If you connect Zwift and Garmin and the Zwift activity is uploaded to Garmin you have to sync your Garmin device with Garmin connect to make it calculate the training stats.
I sync after each outdoor ride (Edge 540) and run (Venu 2 Plus) - but the Zwift rides are not being recalculated.
And if it would, it doesn’t change anything for the data which are not recorded by Zwift (as I wrote - left/right, torque).
This is exactly what I believe.
Which is set as your primary device in Garmin connect? You’ll need to sync primary device after uploading Zwift activity to Garmin connect force calculation on device.
I had more luck with wearable set to primary device rather than edge but it was never 100% consistent so dual record and don’t upload Zwift to GC
If we don’t receive power data from your outdoor ride, we can’t display power zones, so that’s correct. That said, we do calculate stress points using other data in that case.
Yes, that’s exactly what I do
