You get a cat from your 90 last days. Than if you do a 6 or 8 weeks leagues you might indeed improve.
Maybe you could decide that you can finish the league if you have done X numbers of races. Or even decide that you can improve of max X procents.
It does not encourage training if you should always take care of not going over the limit, if you can be kicked out because the computer suspects you could go over the limit, or because you improve for 0.02wkg. This is not zwift purpose. Training platform should encourage progressions. That is blody important.
Umm not to mention the elephant in the room but if any of what you had written was true/accurate, surely you would have progressed to B cat when you were getting podiums in all those C cat races earlier than now? You might have even improved your 20min 3.2wkg output a little sooner?
I am not sure. It is difficult to say. I am recovering from a myocarditis due to Covid vaccine. When I am doing a C race I don’t suffer. But i cannot yet support an intense effort over 11-12min. When I do ftp test, I always give up before the end. I was doing 290w and 3.8wkg before. Now I can do 260-270 for 10min and than nothing. And this is how the computer calculates I might be able to do a better 20min, which I don’t do, don’t feel able to do, and have never done anymore. This is illness this is not sandbagging.
I’m not a doctor, but I’m of the opinion if you can podium in every C cat race you enter for the last 4 months, you could probably hold your own mid pack B as a minimum.
But I see often in B race 4.2wkg/20min. With my weight from 3.2 till 4.2 is 80w difference. It’s a lot. They do for 20min much more than what I can do for 5min.
And yet… why not. I will go. But I am still sad for not ending my league if I am not even almost B and never went over 3.2 ftp.
Right right. And than you watch a bit the profils of the B’s in this Cat enforcement league and you see guys regularly at 4.3wkg/20min, almost A, over 90kg, and the computer didn’t detect them. This is a joke. (Remember we pay for this bad quality).
Ignore the top Bs you can’t compete with them after just getting prompted. Look at the Bs that finish around you in a race and try to beat them. Give a try on the flatter courses i reckon you might surprise yourself how long you can hold with the front group as it’s rare that races actually go at 4.2 in cat B
Remember we all pay and that means there are riders at the top middle and bottom of categories. ZP is pretty poor, CE is better and ranking will be much fairer when it comes.
I’m no doctor, but to me it sounds like what you are currently doing (max efforts) is extremely unwise, and I strongly suggest that you seek professional medical advice.
Category boundaries were arbitrary to begin with - they always will be.
There is no stated goal other than to keep some riders grouped with others in basically 5 groups. (e.g. Zwift Insider recently looked into how many riders were at each category and they certainly aren’t even sized groups.)
There will always be “a line” and some will be either side of it - someone will always be p*ssed off.
Zwift are moving to a merit based system and it won’t happen over night (or in zwift terms, for several months). We just have to “suck it up” in the meantime.
As for WTRL, I’m not commenting further but they don’t even use ZP categories really, “our data is better”.
