It would be so much more easier for everyone if Zwift just told us how they calculate the points we get after a race.
And also showed us the points we gain or lose and not just yours and everybodies new total.

But that is the problem too, once it is solve and it will be, people will tank base on that info.
Not that people can’t just come in last.
Well that is not so hard. One minute looking at this forum and you know that your ZRS and your opponents ZRS have no influence on your score in the race at all and all that matters is finishing in the bottom 50% of the riders in that race.
Well, you can only really tank as far as your seed score -15% I suppose. And if you’re top of a cat you need to finish back of the pack a lot before dropping a full cat. Once you’re in a lower cat if you’re right at the top of it as soon as you finish in the top half you’ll start pushing back to the next cat.
So continuously trying to stay in a lower cat is going to be a bit of a pain I imagine.
Two hours tops and it is done.
Unless your seed score is 15.1% above the category boundary, then there’s no escape. We’ll, not unless you decide to deliberately underperform for a few months.
When does the score decay start?
I noticed something weird with the changes of the race score if you do multiple races back-to-back.
Today I started my first race with a race score of 526. After my first race it dropped to 519 and shows a down arrow in the results page. So I get to ride a cat lower.
The next race, starting just half an hour later starts and I again finish in the lower half of the group, fatigue hit me in the final lap. However, the results page shows a new score of 521 (back up a cat) with a down arrow!, even though it actually increased by two points. That is kinda weird.
The system cant handle two races so short after another. This also happens when you do the Tiny Races on Saturday, that are 4 races in one hour. The calculations get flawed there somewhere and after a few hours you will see them changed to your new score with the correct arrows.
Am at the stage where I just had to do a short race to drop my score to drop down a pen, now am racing riders with only a 1w/kg advantage instead of 1.5 w/kg advantage.
Happy Days…
But you’re probably sitting close to the top of that cat now and will bump back up as long as you’re in the top half of the field correct? Or did your score bump down so far you can do a bunch of races in that low cat, hit top half and maintain that lower category?
Always the chance of getting the promotion back to the higher pen, but at the moment for example, you could “race” the Zwift TT Club week one Mech Isle 4Km to drop back down.
Right, but if you always have to tank a ride to bump down each second time that’s overhead that didn’t need to happen before, so it’s become a bit more of a pain to try to stay in a lower category, they will have to keep doing these small races all year.
I would expect Zwift to also reduce the impact of shorter races, or multiple races on the same day on downward score pressure eventually, but who knows.
It’s a bit of a bind, but at least it’s a “quick fix” option, rather than getting a zMAP promotion under Category Enforcement and then being stuck in the higher pen for 90 days.
I was 353 and finished 17th of 17 and dropped to 336, just finished 17/18th of 37, was trying to finish 19th(bottom half) ,best I could of done was 15th if I sprinted for line but am trying not to sprint.
It was chase race, I was Cat D (-350) in this race and joined the second bunch on the road which was made up of Cat D and E, when C caught us I was only one in my group to jump on them, I was on the back for 5 miles and in that 5 miles they only took 2 seconds off the lead Cat D group because they were basically made up of similiar powered riders, I have no chance competing but the thing is I dont want to compete because if I do manage to finish in top half am going to be promoted back into an even tougher group.
I did the 6k hill climb TT
I just had 90 days of that for being 0.02 over Zmap now this bullcrap.
From what I can tell it starts decaying right away at 0.05%/day. But they seem to like putting people at whole numbers. So depending on your score it could take anywhere from 3-10 days to show a change.
Not that it matters now CE is finished, but putting in a 2 or 3 minute power PR would have lowered your zMAP. I got demoted a cat by putting in a 3 min PR.
is the old racing points in zwiftpower co-existing with the new one? i still see my points in the race and the race ranking points (showing my best 5 racing points) and the new zwift racing score (which is only one number, no statistics…).
is there any new page where i can see the races and the progress with the point?
thanks
