Help with chain alignment

Hi all,

I’m using a compact ultegra chainset with 11 speed cassette and I’m doing lots of endurance rides at the moment. The problem I have is that when doing group rides, my endurance wattage means I’m in a gear that’s either i. too high for the big ring, or too low for the small ring when on the flat. This means my chain is always at a horrible angle and is getting shedded. Is there a way that I can adjust the general resistance so that at a certain wattage, I can sit in a gear that keeps the chain nice and central?

Thanks

In Erg mode keep you chain in the middle cogs, Erg keeps wattage at what the workout is set at. You don’t seem to understand just what Erg mode is.

Ha yes, you’re right, I meant when Zwift is controlling the trainer resistance to mimic the terrain, as opposed to being in ERG.

Two things I can think of:

  1. Change the gears on your bike (different cassette and/or chainrings)

  2. Adjust the difficulty slider in your Zwift settings

It does seem a bit strange to me, though, that the gearing you have presently would leave you crossgeared in either the large or small chainring.
