Gear display for Stages SB20

I’m voting to gear display for all bikes which transmit this data.

I’ve just contacted support again, pointing their attention to this thread and asking them to forward the request to the guys actual making the decisions on where to use the development resources.

Nice one BooX, will do the same.

I wonder how easily it is to find out how many SB20’s are in the wild, being used on Zwift?

+1 on the displaying gears and the L/R power somewhere on the screen please for the Stages SB20. I’ve had problems with the sensors dropping out-- I think I got a defective bike. After some back and forth with customer service, they replaced it with a new bike, but the new bike’s power meter is not working… errrmmrrrggrrrrrddddd. Trying to troubleshoot that now.

Did you replace the batteries? There have been reports of batteries failing early. I replaced both of mine after several months.

Yup. Tried all the things (re the 1st bike). No clue what is going on w bike #2 – it is getting cadence readings but no watts:-(

I did a review on Zwiftinsider StagesBike SB20 | Zwift Insider and stated.: “Expected a quiet, smooth bike, still in beta stage – and got all that…” and that’s still my impression of the SB20. I love it but it’s “buggy” and “beta” from time to time. Sometimes the powermeters doesn’t really think their job is to communicate with the bike, normally a power cycle fixes it. Sometimes my powermeters seems to revert to an older firmware. And last weekend on my 4th trip up the Alp the battery died on the left powermeter making it report +1500 watts just looking at the pedals ( getting me flagged and had to jump of )
I don’t think it’s worse or better than the few other smart bikes on the marked, at least it seems to be quite good mechanically so far… We stil need that Zwift gear display though :grin:

My power meters also keep reverting to 1.6 firmware - which is odd!

Love my SB20! Had a bad flywheel replaced by a local equipment repairman who mostly does commercial fitness equipment. The first thing he did was look over the SB20. HIs comment, “What a great piece of equipment.” He said every other home fitness bike he has seen is (expletive deleted.) Secondly, he said this bike will last for years. His comment regarding the flywheel was that the issue as he understands it is a minor deviation in flywheel specs by the factory. With a 50 pound flywheel a minor deviation is huge. His parting comment, “If you have anymore trouble with your bike call Stages and I will return.” He has experience working on Stage’s commercial bikes and he knows what a great company they are.

+1 for gear display. Using the stageslink app now. Would be great to have it on screen.

Hi

Got this reply from support, this morning, on my last “please notice this forum thread”. As always it could mean anything, but if it actually reaches the dev team there’s always a small hope :crossed_fingers:

Hi B,

Thank you for the feedback!

I’ve passed it on to the dev team, and we appreciate that you are sharing your thoughts on the Zwift Forums at https://forums.zwift.com.

The forums are a great place to get more community support for an idea and gain attention from our dev team. The more attention an idea receives, the more likely it’ll get implemented into Zwift.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Ride On.

I vote for gear display from stages bike in HUD.
Come on Zwift.

Yes please… gear display

I mean, this is so demonstrably false it qualifies as outright lying at this point. Well apart from if you wanted the Saudi Arabia flag.

Bumping

Irs been long enough Zwift…please…release gear display from stages bike SB20 in HUD…Stages delivered what you needed months ago…

Thanks!

Yes. Please, Zwfit - HUD gear display for SB20 - toggling between Companion and StagesLink apps on a mobile phone while riding and watching Zwift is awkward at best.

One more vote for this feature on Zwift. Do have to say though I Iost hope on Zwift after months, so now moving to FulGaz which seem to be much more accommodating on this and keen to add it. Is a nice App also.

With all sorts of hardware/trainers hitting the marked, and presumably a lot more to come in the future, one thing Zwift could do was to implement a “OSD interface”…

If they made the apps listen on port for incoming data that would show up as an overlay on the screen, different vendors and hobby programmers could easily send data to be displayed in the game.
@Jesper_ZwiftHacks from www.zwifthacks.com has made an GPS overlay for MacOS and Windows but this doesn’t apply to IOS and Android devices. Still this could maybe be inspiring for some with a lot of time, programming skills and a SB20 :blush:

Another take on this could be Zwift implementing a “general gear display” interface, again something with listening on a port for gearinfo in a general format, then the vendors and/or hobby programmers could write their own bridge software to interface between the hardware and the Zwift software :slightly_smiling_face:

Just some ideas and brainstorming, hoping it could take this a step further :slightly_smiling_face:

BooX :christmas_tree: ( Has a SB20, limited programming skills and no time… )

I’ll add my vote for HUD gear display for the SB20. Cheers
