Kickr bike gearing is not for V1 unfortunately. While non-wahoo solutions can do it (out of Zwift). Big let down on side of Wahoo/Zwift to be honest. Those things were not cheap and it’s so basic it’s odd it’s not included.
Minus points for both, especially Wahoo, when looking to upgrade Kickr Bike.
IMHO, it’s 100% on Zwift, if other software platforms can read and display KICKR BIKE / SHIFT gear information.
There is an extensive thread on having external devices show the gears, so it’s a simple Bluetooth capture. There should not be any Wahoo firmware updates needed to show gears on Zwift.
Another question: what exactly does „select“ button do? On Kickr Bike Shift it seems to do anything if one didn’t navigate manually to the menu. Then it only selects current option or is it more useful than that?
It seemed to me it’s just there to select the current option, fine if that’s the option you want, but if not, you have to go back to use your mouse or touch screen.
The other thing missing was you can’t return a ride on using the ride on bomb button, like you can with the play controllers.
Both issues for Wahoo though I believe?
I had a similar issue - I have my SHIFT set to SRAM, and only the right shifter worked. I could go harder gears but not easier gears.
I found out that my SHIFT had reverted to Shimano configuration.
I re-enabled the SRAM profile in the Wahoo App, and all was good.
The good thing: I see my gears on the HUD. Very nice, thank you!
The bad thing: Bluetooth setup via PC is buggy now. It flickers and shows different constellations of Kickr Bike LAN, Kickr Bike BT, Zwift Power L and Zwift Power R. Most of the time not the complete list. When checked, it flickers again and presents a new combination with randomly checked boxes. Had to ride without Zwift Power for 2 days now.
This might be a bug with 1.77. But it could be a bug from the latest Wahoo Kickr Bike patch. That patch came on 2024-10-29, too. Or it could be a result of both patches.
Weird thing about the Kickr Bike: When connected via WLAN I see the Watts on the HUD, but the bike doesn’t move.
