Game Update 1.62 [April 2024]

This won’t get everything, but it will hide the RideOn thumbs.

Forcing an experience on other riders already happens and can be irritating.
I’m referring to the blue Ride on thumbs.

I would like to not see these.

I briefly saw a piece from GP Lama that showed how to change settings but haven’t gotten to it yet.

I hoped it would become part of Zwift Prefs - Jesper???
There is already too much confetti anyway.

I would like to be able to hide the leader boards.

There it is.
I didn’t scroll down. :person_facepalming:

I thought the leaderboard visibility is an option?

I think only on iOS devices where you can swipe it off the screen.

The smudge might be a little fainter now (?). Either way, it’s easy to ignore. It only bothered me for a ride or so, and only after someone pointed it out in a previous update announcement.
What I’ve been noticing lately is how much better the “primary” shadows have gotten. Maybe I just haven’t been playing attention to the stuff that works. <:^|
Thanks

For some reason, I thought the options were Off, Auto, and Always.
But, “Off” is missing from my settings menu.

It’s always been only Auto and Always.

I got my second confetti ride-on today. Or at least I think I did.

The first one I didn’t recall seeing any confetti but that might have been because the screen was filled with a Big Spin wheel as well as the Achievement Unlocked banner.

The second one, I just have to assume it was a confetti ride-on as all you see is a burst of confetti and a ride-on. It could just have easily been someone else getting an achievement that warranted confetti but I had a quick look around and that didn’t seem to be the case so I assume it was a confetti ride-on.

Honestly, it’s a bit underwhelming (and confusing as you’re not sure if the confetti is for you or someone else) and I’m not sure why Zwift thought it necessary.

Perhaps in update 1.63 we might start seeing some actual useful features from Zwift. Fingers crossed.

I joined Yumi on Sugar Cookie yesterday, and within seconds, I had the confetti and the banner that I was awarded the Party On! badge. There was a rider with the Level 100 jersey.
The confetti had dissipated by the time the auto-screenshot of the achievement was taken

One thing I don’t really care for is the fact that “Achievements” are usually something the person receiving the achievement does.
This one is completely dependent upon Level 100 riders having the confetti socks on AND giving out ride-ons. The person receiving the “achievement” has done absolutely nothing. They are completely dependent on someone else taking action on their behalf.
That is not an achievement.

While I do agree with you in principle it is possible to better set yourself up to get this achievement by riding in larger groups and giving more ride-ons to promote receiving more ride-ons, so if someone is achievement focused there are things they can do to make getting it much more likely. So it’s not entirely luck.

That said, there are 100s of other achievements they could release that would be more in the control of the rider rather than others, and be more of an actual achievement.

No, and disagree. And worst, it never should’ve been implemented. Literally not a single user of Zwift thinks it’s an improvement yet it was done and is still in the game. @Jon please recognize that this was a bad idea and undo your mistake. It will take only a few seconds.

Completely agree, it really needs to be undone.

There’s absolutely no confirmation bias in my reply to your post. I decided to peruse this thread to see what people may be fussing about that I may or may not have noticed. Since the shockwave implementation or perhaps one build later, I noticed on my ZwiftApp (on PC), that the Ride Ons are definitely not “reaching” as far as they did. I notice this more now that I’m wearing the Confetti Socks and am going out of my way to try to give people Ride Ons in case they haven’t yet secured the Party On achievement - which generally consists of me pulling out of the peloton in 1st position, and then rolling back. Often, if I get right behind #2 who becomes #1 as I ease back, I miss giving the Ride On to that #1 rider despite being displayed right at their wheel, whereas it may give them to other riders within 5-6m of me toward the back. They can be 8-10m off and the Ride On is not hitting them like it did, whereas before, I definitely could keep hitting the circle and run out of thumbs much faster than I do now.

I had a few theories about this - the Ride On “bomb” behavior changed, something changed about the display based on Pack Dynamics, or there is something amiss in the back-end with how riders think they are grouped versus how they are actually grouped - and I’ve seen enough pack anomalies lately that it could be one or multiple of these observations in play.

Thanks for confirming that it is not just in my head.

Dumb luck I guess. The day I updated to 1.62. after a ride I was doing, I late joined a big spin ride. Boom, recieved the party on badge from someone that was in the pack that I warped into :person_shrugging:

I used to be able to give a Ride On to someone if they were 1 second away from me.
Doing solo riding, coming up on another ride, I’d often wait until the Rider Nearby list switched to 1 second, hit the Ride On button, and they would get a Ride On.
Now, that doesn’t work as soon as they are 1 second away. I have to get closer to them for them to get the Ride On. If they are not within the “shockwave” circle, they won’t get the Ride On.

4 posts were split to a new topic: No confetti for segment PR [April 2024] [1.61]

Is it just my imagination :person_facepalming:t2:, or have the pace dynamics changed slightly in the latest game update? I’ve noticed with the RP’s in a largish group that I can easily slide to the back despite a huge effort to stay in position, on downhills the pack can leave me for dust, and when I’m chasing to catch up, it really feels extra sticky as soon as I ease off slightly. I know the effect of being a lighter rider, but I haven’t changed any of my personal settings and all those effects seem to be magnified at the moment compared to how I felt previously.

Please pay more attention to the serious things, not only playtoys like socks, shirts, confetti…
You spend pointless time until you find the workout you want to do

Workouts: You have no possibility to plan your workouts… No possibility to search on the companion App or on the Dashboard… I get up very early and I have no time to search the workout

  • If I could set a favourite star by the workouts and this favourites are on the top of the dashboard
  • or in a special category “Favourites” in the workouts
  • or you can make own categories in your “Customs Workout”, than you could copies all your favourites in your own categories.

If you need someone to help with ideas for improvement, or testing - you can contact me!

Workout categories: I know, that some wrote, that you can do it, but what is with people who aren’t technics specialist… it must be simple to program it on the dashboard/Workout.
