I heard of an issue around this a long time ago, don’t click on the pacepartner tile until you’re actually ready to jump in.
Something else that’s broke in 1.39 - FTP Bias. Used to be limited to +/- 25%, you can now crank it down to whatever you want.
If you didn’t run the app since last Friday, it was probably just the update from “staggered” release to the “normal” update.
I really don’t get the point of this staggered release thing, Zwift makes the update available only to some users, gets a bunch of bug reports, then instead of fixing the bugs before releasing to everyone else, they just release the same update full of bugs to all users. Go figure.
if the bugs are minor and not “show stoppers” they will continue the release and fix the bugs ASAP
This time the bugs are not realy minor (in my opinion) a d there also a lot more than most times
FWIW I don’t have steering and get pushed out of the side of the pack into the wind regularly.
Lots of bugs this go around but all relatively minor…nothing even close to when both erg and sim modes broke.
Also the fact that they are able to do a staggered release implies that it would also be possible to allow the user to choose which version to run, at least until the new release becomes mandatory for some reason. I assume they lack that capability at the moment, but developing it should be a priority. There are often bugs that affect a subset of devices and equipment, and those users should have the choice to revert or postpone the update.
I tried tapping the “steering” option on the pairing menu this morning but just got a blank.
Running Zwift on Windows 10PC
Running Companion on iPhone
iPhone is connected to PC via Bluetooth
iPhone is mounted on barstem
I’ve never tried steering before but thought I’d try now that it seems to be more broadly supported and encouraged? The documentation I could find on Google just points me to this page which wasn’t super helpful for establishing the connection.
Is it (still) possible to use a phone and Companion app to steer with Zwift running on a PC?
I’m sorry, but the Companion app is no longer supported for steering for some time now. That article is outdated and should have been removed
For steering you will need a dedicated steering device or a smart bike that has steering capabilities and is supported by Zwift.
@Richard_Metcalfe1 Thank you very much for reporting this feedback regarding Apple TV remote navigation, and for sharing the details about your use case with wanting to see your calories burned during your activity. Thanks to your description I was able to reproduce the same behavior, and I’ve routed this to the team for investigation.

Edit: Quick update on this @Richard_Metcalfe1 –
From my discussion with the team, pressing the Apple TV Menu/Back button to bring up the orange Menu button is intentional; there will be other buttons available in the future in addition to Menu hence the need to show the buttons and not immediately show the Pause menu. However, I do understand that you want to see your calories and this adds an extra button press which is annoying, so I’m going to write up a request to see if we can make calories more accessible.
However, needing to press the Menu/Back button twice to show the orange Menu button is not intentional; the team is working on fixing this now.
Thanks again for reporting these issues.
It seems like Win10 install now thinks its an Apple TV. Buttons are hopping and zooming in like crazy and the buttons to scoll left and right on the save screen where you can choose your screenshots have disappeared as well.
Other question, how can I exclude a device from knowndevices.xml? I want to make sure Zwift pairs to the correct trainer right from the beginning. Otherwise I have to choose it every single time I started Zwift. Gets annoying.
In the garage there seems to be a misalignment of the buttons, they have a small line in the upper part. Goes away when hovering over them. Exit and re-enter garage and there back again.
Interesting. I’m on Windows too and my devices always default to the last used. I wonder what would happen if you made knowndevices.xml read only?
I thought this was fixed…but nope. This morning Zwift grabbed the correct device for power and cadence but the wrong one for controllable.
I was able to choose not to update the app on android - it said there is an update and it will become mandatory in two days but i was able to run the game without updating
Yeah it’s the desktop users who don’t have a choice
You can’t swipe up to get at the power up now either.
Anybody having issues with cadence for running? With the new device pair screen Zwift won’t find either my Fenix 7 or my Garmin HRM Dual for cadence. Always worked fine before.
Possibly associated with the running device pairing failures?
Yep. Bald and no feet.
No please no, please don’t
How great all the other option will be please make ik simple to end and save a ride just as it was.
Atv is all over the place. Just let me end a ride without having the risk to select something else.
Do all the other nice to have actions on companion app.
Please don’t it make Zwift unusable…
