ok but why all of these posts is about of getting something for free or for a generating losses. I see no one posts about earnings, maybe im fool, but in these hard days, a extra free month will be better advertisment than a celebrity participation. And giving extra month can generate many new cilents.
I think you should paint my house for free. You may think you’re happy with your current job, but once all those prospective clients see what a great job you did on my house they will be lining up to hire you! You’ll make more money than you ever dreamed!
No Jasper, i wont paint your house becasue its not for my buisness.
But if it will be I would do that.
Thats how advertisment works.
And finally, there is something like social resposibility of buisness, if you can help - do it
whats a difference in typical sponsoring or a help inclination?
Thank you, Tomasz. I now understand your point and will completely agree with you from now on.
There’s also social responsibility of people - if you can help, do it. If you can afford to pay for another Zwift rider who is suffering from COVID-19 (or has lost his/her job because people want free stuff), I assume you’re already doing it, right?
Nothing is more powerful than leading by example. Get to it.
Why? Because you titled your topic as “Free month because of coronavirus” (emphasis added). Not sure how people can interpret this as anything but asking for something for free.
And hate to break it to you, but if Zwift were to give away free memberships (more than the current trial period they have) they would be losing money they otherwise would have generated. If they are losing more money they will have to either: A) scale back development/upgrades/etc or B) increase the monthly cost to every paying member to recoup the losses. Kind of how business works, you need money in order to innovate and provide a service.
Yes Daniel, but you are another who oops and exaggerates possible losses and not even ment of possible EARNINGS that if my mind could be bigger
Supply and demand, you should pay double during the C19 outbreak.
just “sigh”
Im not a economic expert, i dont want to argue with you, but please explain me why givin extra month when you will buy trainer via zwift store is ok, and giving an extra month in case of bad times (which however will be a great advertisment) is bad?
Probably because all active subscribers will cancel to get the free month, it wont be fair to only give it to new subscribers since many has be paying for years.
And as you stated New members can go to the Zwift store and get a free month with some trainers.
Cable companies don’t give free stuff to the new members they just add channels or data to people already paying.
I am just happy that Zwift is not my local super market that doubled the prices on most everyday items.
thank you for your comment, im terrified that when i just propose some kind of a solution, especialy when you live in country where is no chance to training because whole places of social acitivity are banned, i get so much hate
It is not a solution, and there is no hate, just people calling nonsense of your idea.Your about the third person to suggest Zwift should be free because of a flu virus spreading.Should bicycles be free? Cable tv? Hospitals?
Tomasz I think you have little or no understanding of what business is going through at the moment with this virus, any forward thinking IT based company has been spending a lot of money on laptops and phones so that there staff are able to work from home just in case the virus hits their offices and then you come along and say gimme for free please.
Ride on
Well, what I don’t understand is why most of you consider that “free month” proposal as a simple “Gimme”?
If Zwift decides to offer “Corona Month Free”, it will be just another way of advertisement or promotion or call it whatever you like. Any advertisement costs a lot of money. And “classical” advertisement (magazine, web, TV) or “Free month access” is just the same thing (or tool). Moreover, free access looks like a friendly gesture to the cycling community (another nice bonus). Honestly, I believe this “Freemonth” could bring more new customers to Zwift and finally help to increase their earnings.
GdF
P.S. And just to avoid any misunderstanding: I’m not socialist, believe me. Unlike most of you, I know what this term really means (I was born under socialism and had to live there for a significant part of my life). So, I’m not socialist and never will be (and of course I’m a fan of Donald Trump
).
Giving your current customers a free month is not very beneficial…those people are already your customers. Zwift takes an investment to use, most people can’t just hop on zwift without having to buy some stuff.
Point being, a free month just loses you $15 a month per subscriber and gains close to nothing
As I think has been noted elsewhere in this thread, doesn’t Zwift, effectively, already offer a free month of Zwift - at least for those who are NOT already using the platform and might be encouraged to ‘social distance’ during this time - through their ‘try a trainer’ option? If you have a trainer already you are likely already using Zwift, or some other indoor training platform, and if you don’t have a trainer you would need one to make use of Zwift, anyway. I’m guessing that the Zwift offer might some with some caveats (as well as there likely being a limited supply of trainers available), but it’s still a potential option.
Hi everyone,
We appreciate the isolation that many members feel because Zwift staff are also taking the same precautions.
Some brands such as Amazon have made fantastic gestures to those currently most impacted by the spread of the novel coronavirus. As a young, start-up company however, Zwift is in a very different position. Our priority remains focused on what we can do - ensuring that Zwift remains operational and able to deliver high quality events and experiences to our global community.
I think it is time to close this thread… can anybody do it?
I was not very happy with it since the very beginning, for me the price for Zwift compared with price for the hardware is just OK.
But there are some postings making me really sad…
Born 1959 in former “socialist” Czechoslovakia, had many problems with the regime, but that is another, old story. Live since 1991 in Austria, so I think I have enough experience with both systems… and, believe me, so called “socialism” was crap, but capitalism as we have it today is far away from perfect.
Please, no politics on Zwift, RIDE ON.
Where are we then on Nationals? Substitute races for Flanders and Paris=Roubaix would be great events also.
RGT is offering free Premium memberships as a response to the COVID-19 crisis. Really surprised at all the shade thrown at the OP for their suggestion that Zwift respond to the pandemic in an “aggressive” marketing manner that would be good for attracting new members to the Zwift community and a gesture of good-will. Certainly, the world can use all the good will it can get at a time like this. Right? Increasing the trial period from 1-week to 1-month (WITHOUT having to buy a smart trainer) seems like a smart marketing and good-will move. IMO. By the way, contrary to some poster’s assumptions, not all Zwifter’s are sporting 1000 plus dollar/euro/pound set-ups. For example, my Zwift set-up consists of a 1978 Raleigh SuperCourse with a “dumb” Kinetic fluid trainer made “smart enough for Zwift” with their Kinetic inRide 3 Power Sensor accessory. Kudos to the Original Poster for staying level headed in their response to all those who were irked by the idea that Zwift be a little nimble in how it approached the COVID-19 Pandemic.
