Fondo Series 2025

Hello

Will there be no Fondo Series 2025?
It always started the end of november, but up to today, there’s still nothing announced…
Those were always very popular events, and really something to look out and train for.

Kind regards
Lander De Frene

I was curious about this as well. The kits you really had to work for.

According to Zwift Insider there will not be a Fondo series this year. I think that’s unfortunate. I have enjoyed the fondos the previous years.

Where did you read this exactly
I didn’t encounter anything considering the Fondo’s yet…

And I fully agree on it being a high-ranked event series
together with Tour of Watopia and Tour de Zwift.

Eric Schlange wrote it as an answer to a comment on Zwift Insider’s article about the MAAP Series.

This really needs some new, very difficult hilly routes in new roads, eg a Col du Galibier and Sarenne linked to ADZ from Jarvis Island otherwise it just becomes whatever was done already.

Bummer. I was looking forward to the fondo series all year. Would be good to have at least a couple ultra endurance races

I came here looking for details on the next Fondos. What a disappointment they won’t be happening.

What! No fondos. I’d only really kept my Zwift membership to do this over Dec, Jan and Feb. That’s made my mind up. I won’t be renewing my member ship now. So disappointed and time to try another platform.

What else has them anyway?

there are plenty of other events and long routes, tour de Zwift starts in January too with a new twist to ride every route of every stage for a special jersey.

Yeah, I’ll probably do that, but I did enjoy the Fondo Series last year, it was easier to line up a longer ride and they had good participation.

There are longer events on the calendar, but for me there are only two longer group rides that fit in the timeframes I ride (and they are fenced group rides which is different than the fondo event), so I appreciated the days that had Fondo Series particularly the ones that were on Fridays my local time as I don’t ride on weekends.

This is so disappointing. It has been my favourite series by far in years past :pensive:

Define long routes? I’ve done Four Horsemen and several of the Pretzels, but there are not many 80-100 mile routes.

The winter holiday period is a common time when you can find them. They will be a mixed bag of community events so may not suit everyone and start times will be more limited. The ZwiftHacks events app has a button on the Size tab where you can select Extreme (>100km). You’ll have to shop carefully among the offerings but you may find something. Obviously it’s not a replacement for a big well-promoted series from Zwift HQ.

Thanks! Some of the routes I’m looking for start at 3 am my time but it would be the first time I started a ride that early…used to start long road rides then…

It’s really disappointing because I was so looking forward to it. The only downside of the Fondo Series is that it wasn’t a monthly event during the summer or a weekly one in the winter.

Looks like fondos start this coming Saturday, not the usual routes, but I just checked what’s on at the weekend and saw Fondos.

I think that may be the JOIN Fondo. Lots of events from them on Saturday. Looks like some are races and others not.

Hopefully the JOIN Bambino race will get lots of entrants. One of the rare events that offers ZRS cat enforcement, and same time starts for all cats. Interesting to see the times vs scores across the cats. Longer and harder though than I myself like to race on the trainer.
