Feature suggestions for Kickr Run

Evening all,

I’ve recently bought a Kickr Run and got back into Zwift Running. Throughout, I’ve done a lot of cycling on Zwift.

I appreciate that running is not charged the same as cycling but would like a couple of fixes etc.

It’s amazing the difference the Kickr Run makes to engagement; it’s as different to a normal treadmill as the first time getting on a turbo compared to the old style exercise bikes. All that bring said, there are some improvements I’d like to see.

It would be good to match cycling in:

  • being able to use play controllers (or new version) and/or the context buttons on the Kickr Run being programmable
  • Zwift runs to count towards streaks and show up on ZCA for workout and training status stats
  • Elevation shown on screen
  • The option to compete on segments

I would also like to see

  • Gradient climbed to reflect the terrain (correcting for gradient limits) especially when exported (Garmin/Strava etc)
  • Landscape mode for ZCA maps

How are you liking the KICKR Run? Worth it compared to other treadmills?

It’s great. I haven’t owned another treadmill, so can’t talk to maintenance etc for others. But I have used a number of treadmills in various gyms. The headline features (terrain following, run free) are clearly really impressive. But the ability of the motor to speed up and slow down is amazing. Taking around 3s to go from 7:20 to 3:30 makes sprint intervals really viable.

I found it as bit a change moving to it from old treadmills as the first time I rode a turbo on Zwift compared to the old exercise bikes.

Which of these features would you consider most important to release first?

Good question. Probably those which include tracking alongside cycling; so ZCA including Zwift Runs with training load etc and streaks. Without that the data is so incomplete as to be deceptive and would require an outside tool to be valid (TrainingPeaks, Strava, Garmin Connect etc).

I can’t help but feel that the context buttons would be an easy win.
