Hi @Joao_Pereira7, Welcome to the Zwift Forums!
Fernanda here, part of the support specialist team at Zwift.
I appreciate you used this space for your concerns. Let me tell you that the error code Z117 is related to Zwift not being able or having difficulty writing in the Documents folder. In this case, let’s try to get a solution by following these steps:
- If the documents are redirecting to a cloud or to a network storage, the Zwift files are not properly saved. In this case, could you please confirm that the Zwift folder is located in the Documents folder and that the Documents folder must be located on the computer’s hard drive?
- Be sure to run Zwift on an Admin profile on your PC.
- Avoid having a special character on the Admin account user name.
- Right-click on the ZwiftInstaller file and choose ‘Run as Admin…’ even if you already have Admin access on your computer.
Please give a try to this and let us know how it goes, and remember, if you need some one-on-one assistance. Please use the Contact Us link on Support.Zwift.com.
Hi. I checked the documents file and they are in one drive. But they’ve allways been there and i din´t had this problem.
How do i change it to my documents folder in my hard drive? Just copy and paste or do i have to make changes in zwift?
Thanks
João Pereira
I restored my documents location. Hopefully it will solve it.
I’ve had this same problem, starting maybe 3 weeks ago (On Windows 11). I’ve been running Zwift since shortly after beta. Never had this issue before. My id is in the administrators group, Documents folder is local, and I have full permissions to it. I can find no “ZwiftInstaller” file on my machine
Hi @Ignatias_Robot, Welcome to the Zwift Forums!
I’m Fernanda from the Zwift Support team.
I can understand how confusing can be to locate some files on the PC, In this case, on your PC you should locate the ZwiftSetup file, and under this file right click and select “run as administrator”. Let me share a picture for you:
Once you do this, please let me know if the error is still displayed. Also, if you have any anti-virus running on the PC, remember to exclude the Zwift App. This also can prevent the files from being saved in the correct document path.
Keep me posted on how things go for you!
Thanks for getting back to me Fernanda,
I located ZwiftSetup.exe and ran in admin mode. It said it would install ZwiftLauncher v 1.1.12. I wasn’t able to determine the version of ZwiftLauncher I had, but after running the installer the ZwiftLauncher was backdated. The prior version was dated 2024-05-02. Now the version I have is dated 2024-04-16. I’m not sure if this is progress?
Anyway, it still launches Zwift, without error, but I’m not sure this is a proof point, as the Z117 error occurred apart from any Zwift launch. In fact, I was away for the weekend, and the error was present on my screen when I returned

FYI, in “Launcher_log (old 2).txt”, dated yesterday evening (attached), I see this:
[17:46:50 2024-05-23] Downloader: Failed to set current directory to "C:\Users\ronsm\AppData\Local\Temp\Zwift\Downloads". Error code: 3.
