Disappointing customer support and absolute lack of multi-account/family retention

I need to vent about a recent experience with Zwift support because I know I’m not the only one dealing with the financial pain of a multi-rider household, only to be met with complete corporate tone-deafness.

My 2014 dedicated indoor trainer bike was at the end of life. Eager to upgrade, I reached out to Zwift support with two incredibly simple questions: Could I be put on a mailing list for the next Zwift Ride frame discount in Europe so I could pair it with my Tacx Neo 2T? And is there any update on a Family Membership? Paying for four separate, full-price adult subscriptions under one roof is getting impossible to justify.

Instead of actual help, the support agent literally told me to go search YouTube and Facebook for discount codes. Seriously? We all know those random codes are fake or expired. It felt like a lazy brush-off.

Because of the high costs and our upcoming summer holidays, I decided to pause our accounts. When I went through the cancellation process and selected “other competitors,” a standard system pop-up appeared offering a retention discount to stay. Since we are away until late August, I messaged support to ask if they could honor that discount when we reactivate in late August.

Their response? They demanded screenshots of the pop-up for every single account in the house.

Let’s be completely honest, who on earth takes a screenshot of a routine, automated exit prompt? It is a ridiculous, bureaucratic stall tactic. If customer service had no intention of helping me, why play games by telling me to hunt for broken codes or demanding screenshots of their own automated system?

Despite this terrible experience, I still went ahead and I bought the Zwift Ride frame at my local bike shop. But man, the whole thing has left a bitter taste in my mouth. It is incredibly frustrating to invest so much into a company only to be treated like a metric on a spreadsheet instead of loyal customers.

Are any other families out there completely fed up with the lack of multi-user support and the scripted runarounds? I must say that the zwift ride frame and tacx neo 2t works as a charm, at least that is fine.

There are in fact legit affiliate discount codes distributed by people on YouTube, however none of them are for the frame only. The only long running discounts are for the bundle that comes with a Kickr Core and only apply to US/UK/EU buyers. Discounts on the frame only are quite rare. I’m not aware of any mailing list you can join to be notified about discounts.

I’m not surprised you got no useful answer about the family plan question since the feature request has been open since 2018. I suspect that support simply has nothing to say that would satisfy your desire for information about it.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the clarification on the affiliate codes and the context regarding the frame-only versus bundle discounts.

To clarify my original post, I wasn’t directly demanding a discount upfront. My initial and main reason for reaching out to support was simply to ask if there was a notification or mailing list I could join. Since my family is heading away for a long summer break, I just wanted a way to stay informed about future offers without having to manually check the Zwift shop every single day while on vacation.

As you noted regarding the family plan, I’m well aware of that massive forum discussion dating all the way back to 2018. I brought it up during the back-and-forth emails more as a point of ongoing frustration for multi-rider households like mine. I’m certainly not trying to advocate that everyone should just pack up and leave Zwift for other platforms; my disappointment stems entirely from how the communication was handled.

All of this frustration could have easily been avoided if the first support agents had just been proactive and straightforward, rather than sending me on a wild goose chase for social media codes and test them one by one.

That being said, I do want to give credit where it’s due: The last Zwift support agent has since sent a follow-up email apologizing for the initial handling of the situation. They’ve let me know that upon returning from our summer holidays, I can contact them again regarding our four household accounts to get this sorted out. It’s a relieving step in the right direction, but it shouldn’t take an escalated battle just to get basic, proactive customer care.

could’ve been an Ai response?

I don’t think so, unless zwift AI create all fake agent names, at the end of each message?

By international standards (determined by AI) all AI names are “Tilly Norwood”.

The AI answers are marked as such and do not have an agent name

You’ve bought a Zwift frame so you’re invested into the platform. It would be naive to think this won’t be taken into account when seeking any discount.
