Create Custom Routes, Worlds and Map Ideas and QA

I just want to explore but still stay with Zwift

One thing you could also do would be to make custom jerseys and shirts for segments and club events!

Hmmm, cool, but you already have other cycling apps for that. Wahoo X RGT, and in Bkool it’s also possible. It’s by importing GPX, but if you can make a custom GPX, the programs build it.

So essentially, someone must program an custom GPX editor, so you can use it on these 2 cycling apps.

I too want a custom-GPX maker.
AFAIK, on all the other platforms when you upload a file you can’t ride it in a loop, like Zwift. You ride it once, start to finish, and then it ends your ride. (I don’t 100% know)

This idea reminds me of the Trackmania game. There was in Trackmania already a vehicle mod with a bike in it, but you controlled it with a game controller.

So essentially you need to make a Trackmania mod, that you can ride by using your bike instead of a game controller.

If you don’t know what the Trackmania game is, look it up on Google!

I just thought of this idea: what if we had the UI route of the ride across America! This would be something for the endurance athletes who don’t want to do loops over and over again. The route would have the official ride across America as well as maybe some other ones people have done like for example: my dad and I ride across America from Seattle to Saint Simons Island, GA in 33 days, Monday through Saturday, averaging about 103 miles a day! I could also send you guys the route so you could get started! I was thinking this because the official ride is a big one in the sport of cycling (although it may not be THE Tour de France) but I thought I’d might as well share this idea. Also remember, this DOES NOT have to be soon but it would be VERY cool to have.

I think you have grossly underestimated how much time it takes us to put together a map with approx 30-50km, let alone 5000.

I thought you could just put “create a new Zwift route that goes across the US” in ChatGPT and call it a day?

Sorry, I understand, I was just thinking it’d be cool to add some cycling trips, Ironman events, etc. into Zwift. I mean you could just generate the whole thing instead of placing every tree, building etc. I was just trying to give something to those endurance athletes out there. If this did happen, we could just do a 1-2 mile segment themed from each of the 50 states like how France is themed after that country! I was just trying to give out some ideas.
Examples are:
Arizona, Sage rush and cities like Tuscon
Washington: Trees and the city of Seattle
Hawaii: A coastal section
Texas: Huston with NASA
…and others you have in mind. I’m just giving out IDEAS but they are just suggestions.

“Because Zwift’s current methods of creating new worlds/maps/roads seems to be quite time-intensive, my guess is that portal climbs won’t have the custom, detailed environmental visuals we’re used to seeing on climbs like Alpe du Zwift or the Epic KOM. While the climbs will be GPS-accurate, I bet the surrounding environment will be programmatically generated so Zwift’s art team doesn’t have to place each building, rock, tree, etc.” What We Know About Zwift’s Upcoming “Climb Portal” Feature | Zwift Insider
This is how I was thinking it could be done so it wouldn’t take SOOO long… or like Plan B be could just make it like France and make it have that country’s theme.

5000km without any roadside features. I’d rather give up cycling.

Well I actually started in 2019. These are just ideas and like I said, it could be themed like America where we take bits of each state and add 1-2 miles expansions.

Actually nice idea where every few miles it changes scenery to match the change in states.

After watching 2 bikes & 1 wheelchair there is quite a varied landscape from west to east.

Hey crowdsource the dev from the geeks on here

Do an adopt the road, each person contributes to their own sponsored km

Ride On

That would be AWESOME! Give people have an assigned state and they make plans for that state.

Maybe put down in the comments what state you’d like to be assigned. Each person could be assigned a state’s theme like:

-Arizona-sage brush

-Idaho-Farm Lands and (near were we live: Sand Dunes)

-Hawaii-Coastal Riding and Volcanoes

-Nebraska-Corn and Wheat Fields
Iowa-Fields with rolling hills

New York-Niagara Falls (because NYC was already taken)

And more…

After you are assigned your state you could make a map idea on a piece of paper showing details like route, elevation, sprints, KOM/QOM’s, etc.

A community and team effort map! Now that something that we might like because the community helped design it!

What the community could do: jot down on paper, digital, etc. what the course would look like

What Zwift could do: Make the map based on these suggestions.

I’m afraid they’re not going to do any of these things. All perfectly reasonable desires, but not within the realm of what the company can or will do. They don’t create roads based on user suggestions, and they haven’t created any long routes or big climbs in a long time. I’d be happy to ride many of the roads you’re suggesting, but it’s not a realistic expectation.
