Hi, I am attempting to participate in the upcoming ZRL but have run into a problem. I recently got banned from Cat D racing as my Zwift racing score topped 200. I have tried to join ZRL Cat C, but my profile still says Cat D and won’t let me join Cat C. I don’t appear to be able to change either. Does anyone have any clues how to solve this conundrum?
First off, ZRL doesn’t use ZRS so your race score doesn’t matter.
Your team manager should be able to help you sign up for whatever category you want. You can race up, so even if you ar still a “D” on Zwiftpower you should be able to race with a C cat team.
FYI, you have to be on a team for ZRL, you can’t just join a race randomly. These are “private” events and WTRL will release the race pass usually a few days before the race.
Thanks, my team manager has tried to load me but to no avail. I will try a ride tomorrow and see if it will resolve itself.
Do you have a WTRL account? You need one to be added to a ZRL team.
There’s no such thing as a racing score category. The number just puts you in a starting pen that can vary race by race depending on how the event is set up. You might be in D pen in one event, C in another.
The older category system based on Pace Group is used by ZRL so if you want to understand where you belong under that system, the min/max power for each category is in this document:
Short answer to that is if it says you are in D category, that is your “recommended” category for events that use that system.
WTRL rules allow racing in a higher category if you want:
My racing score is listed as 229, I’ve never done any races outside Cat D, not that I do them that often anymore.
That makes no sense for most ZRS pen D races I’m aware of, you would have to have a ZRS above 270 to be excluded from Zmonthly races or above 350 in the last 90 days to be excluded from Tiny Races pen D, for example.
Thanks all. Now sorted, racing in Cat D. What’s not to like?
