Nice find. I have a feeling that Zwift is actually calculating this estimated cadence so that it can animate the avatar with some leg movement if there is not actual cadence sensor. I wonder if it was an oversight on their part to then actually be writing that data into the .fit file?
This is a nice find! You guys are correct. Writing cadence into the .fit file is a known issue which is on the radar to fix in a future update.
Leaving a quick comment to this old topic.
I believe Eric is correct that Zwift is generating some bogus cadence for the avatar. I noticed that my avatar cadence way way off, especially up hills. My fitness is not stellar so wattage drops, causing the poor avatar to pump some epic quares while getting nowhere.
Bonus info: the Zwift companion app shows this fake cadence (observed today August 3rd ‘18k). But it is so wrong that it is pointless and probably a bug similar to how it got logged.
With a Kickr snap.
Cadence sensor in the mail. So last time riding with the heavy stomper.
