Everyday it’s the same. Is there a way to mix up the routes more frequently? I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been round and round Central Park. I love the concept but my heart sinks everytime I login at the moment.
The routes have been stuck in New York for weeks now, no doubt as a way to highlight their new offerings, and revert back to changing every two days after today. You can see what’s coming up by tapping on Routes on the main Zwift page & then tapping world schedule.
Actually feeling a bit bad as I just did the Sugar Cookie. But the more variety the better.
You should always see two route options for each pacer which are never in the same world and are changed weekly, so you are not obliged to ride in New York. I realize this is not exactly an exciting selection and they limit the choices to routes without significant climbs, but it does also limit the disruption of the pacer going away to once a week.
I agree, they are a fairly boring mix (even with the alternate options) and have been since 65kg Amelia Anquetil was abducted and never seen again.
Bowie Brevet group on Sand and Sequoias was also good, smash the KOM at sub 4 minutes then try to stay away from Bowie and the pack on the downhill.
What if riders had new power-ups with robo-pacers? Nasty power-ups that engage like a ride-on.
Stun-gun: Zap another rider and they freeze for X seconds, then have to sprint to catch the group.
Light saber: Changes the other riders bike to a random bike: Brompton/Buffalo/Tricycle/Steel frame.
Boost: Launches rider forward out of the draft.
Rubber band: Similar to coffee but makes a single rider attach to the pacer for 30 seconds.
Why not just do something else when you feel like that about the pace partners? There are piles of group rides & races all the time, workouts, your own meetups, and even just riding a route by yourself / with whoever you find there…
Yeah, I think I’d also be bored if I only rode with pace partners. I tend to alternate my rides between workouts, pace partners, getting new route badges, doing climbs, finding group events or the one-off race now and again. If you’re going to do the same category of thing every day (any of these really) you’ll probably get bored of it anyhow.
If you want to stick with a pace partner you might consider switching between the hillier or flat one, or alternating with a stronger or weaker one (one day do tempo, another zone 2, another recovery, another threshold etc.). Maybe try putting on a gravel bike, or mountain bike and going with a slower pace partner if you want a different route with the current pace partners.
All just band-aids for the problem that the routes are just too similar.
The flat options should be very flat (because people want that, the numbers are clear - see when Coco or Jacques are on Tempus) and the other option should be mountainous rides - though those robopacers will need power tweaked (less of an increase uphill) and probably weight reduced to reflect that in real life, a lot of the folk riding mountains tend to be a bit less powerful, but also a lot lighter (mid to low 60kg).
I think almost everyone is bored of the Robopacer routes. Unfortunately Zwift have decided they can’t or won’t change them. The did try briefly with the new France routes but they kept wandering up Ven-top, so they abandoned that idea and didn’t bother to fix it.
Isn’t the problem that there aren’t enough routes in many of the worlds to accommodate all the RPs. As it is, for the non-Watopia RPs, there’s a lot of mixed worlds for the 2nd option, which I believe (?) removes ability to teleport from one RP to another.
Eg. from current schedule you see Makuri mixed in with Scotland or with NewYork – why not all Scotland or all Makuri or all New York?
Watopia has plenty. France has a lot, so too the Makuri world.
You are proposing to divorce people from their Robopacer on Tempus or Tick Tock? Good luck to you with that. You’ll have a riot on your hands.
I suspect if I suggested for the flatter option that all robopacers only even rode on Tempus Fugit I’d have a huge amount of votes for it.
No. Watopia is always available for every RP. I’m referring to the 2nd choice that you can select from. France and Makuri have a good number of routes, but there are 7 other worlds though. If Zwift could solve for problem that you can’t teleport from a RP in one world to RP riding in another, then I imagine the RP calendar could offer a good amount more variety, if indeed there are a lot of zwifters who like to teleport to differing difficulties during a session.
Just wish that a D cat Pacer would do the ADZ route or Ven Top a couple times a month.
It would make the climbs a bit more enjoyable,…….. maybe, but it would also help out people who are newish and need altitude gain for Tron Bike etc. ![]()
Actually, all of them.
It would need a new route to be done - they would have to loop along the cliff-side road, then right turn up the Epic KOM and then down through the jungle to Alpe du Zwift, then loop back the same way.
However I think when the robopacers are on those long, steep climbs the w/kg increase would need to be reduced.
Yes the robopacers are too slow up short climbs because riders are smashing them on the little hills, but those same riders won’t be doing that on ADZ or Ventop, those are much longer climbs.
I can’t imagine the folk smashing Constance up the little hills with 5.5-6.0w/kg are going to do that on the entire ADZ or Ventop. ![]()
What people will likely do is just watch the map and wait until Constance is at the top and just teleport there for a long, free Ventop descent.
They just teleport to Constance anyway, over and over on the flat routes - so it’s not like ADZ or Ventop is going to make much difference. They even do this on the Sugar Cookie route as well, but we still have that in the route rotation all the time.
There are other ways they can achieve the same result that don’t need robopacers going up hills.
One teleport to go that much distance is much much easier than continually teleporting around and would be much easier to abuse.
They can still achieve this now and it’s very easy to do without needing a robopacer teleport.
And yet we still have the features that allows that to happen.
Bring on the mountainous routes for robopacers just to make them do something different, just as we had in the old days. Yes I get that not everyone likes riding on hills, but then that’s why there are two different robopacer options, which are currently both always on “flat” routes.
Is Four Horsemen a loop?
