My zFTP is auto updated…i had to refresh profile only once and since than it changed zFTP 3 times on it’s own after the event.

It should automatically update on ZP when you next start an event.

Have to ask a question after the update.

I had at last test an FTP of 207 (76kg). I’ve then been riding a few races in the D category getting my watt/kg to 2.40 (20min watt at 192 and 95% of that 182 and 2.4w/kg, i.e. still D, but getting close to C.

Now you have updated the way to calculate it, and have my FTP at 217 and put me in the C category as 217/76kg is 2.86w/kg. As such that makes sense and is a better way to calculate my form.

My question therefore is if the watt/kg category thresholds should still be the same (me moving from D to C based purely on new methodology)? Also, I assume a lot of riders have moved up to new categories. What percentage is that moving from D to C, from C to B etc? Haven’t been in a C ride yet, but don’t really feel for it, as it was hard enough in D, and seems like it will be a killer now being forced into that, though top C riders I assume have also been moved up to B.

A fair number of people have been moved up. A few have moved down. Ultimately if there are going to be hard categories like we have (as opposed to a more-dynamic matchmaking system), the lines have to be drawn somewhere. And so some people will be at the bottom of their categories and will have a really hard time, and some people will be at the top of their categories and have an easier time.

So what’s the “Zwift correct” Cat to race in when you get downgraded…? :joy: Seems to be different options here, esp now when ZP enforced the Zwift limits.

The limits stated for a A race do not corresponding to the actual limits.

Ftp 4-5 w/kg = A

But limit is 4.2 Zftp, so the ones between 4.0-4.2 gets in limbo. Why just not have the limits the same in cat enforced events, either state A from 4.2- or lower the limit to 4 to avoid confusion?

The correct category to race in is always the lowest available to you on a category enforced race.

hey, apologies if Ive missed an explanation on this recently, but Ive noticed a few times recently that there seem to be more and more Cat C riders who are able to enter CE races even tho their FTP is above 3.2, at say 3.4 or 3.5 W/KG

Now, its already hard enough with a spread between 2.5 and 3.2, to be able to compete, but if youre at the mid range, you can just about manage it if you race judiciously and sit in (albeit you usually get blown away in last Km).

Once you allow in 3.4 and 3.5 it changes the race dynamics totally though. This didnt used to happen, just wondered if there was a reason for it now?

CE does not use FTP.

CE has different limits than the old Zwift Power 20 minute limits.

CE run little bit higher now for the Cat’s as whole.

i think it was 1st started C group feel the same, now feels to me it harder, think they have add like 0.2th to the cat limit as whole. my feeling on it.

yes, thanks for clearing that up Gerrie, but it still leaves the question of why its gone up from where it was?
