Zwift halo bike!

It’s so annoying being relatively new to zwift, I’ve unlocked the halo bike, only to find i can’t buy it as it’s 10 million drops which is ridiculously over priced in terms of drops.

Some of us who’ve been around a while have plenty of drops since there hasn’t been any thing to use them for. You’ll get there, it’s not supposed to be easy.

One halo bike doesn’t cost any Drops at all - the Zwift Concept aka Tron bike. You’ll have to do a lot of climbing to unlock it though (and have the Everest Challenge selected so that your climbing counts towards unlocking it).

If I’m not mistaken one of the Pinarello bikes has drops multiplier as the fifth upgrade. This might be more useful for you.

Get that and spend a year riding with the robopacer groups. it should help you.

In the old days of robopacers with the 3.0x drops multiplier, that was useful (back when Anquetil and Bowie Brevet still existed).

And upgrading it will cost you another 10 million drops
Keep riding… Riding with robopacers is a good way to score many drops. Up to 2.5 multiplier and every rideon you get doubles the drop rate for 15s. Spread rideons while riding, you always get some back.

But, is it suppose to be impossible? Like 10 million cmon

I currently have 15 million so it isn’t impossible at all.

I have just got up to 200 millions again after spending 10 millions on another Halo… guess you should be able to get up to 10 millions at some point :grin:

BòóX

Riding the big climbs can help to earn drops at a faster rate, also.

You already said you’re relatively new to Zwift. Halo bikes aren’t designed for those relatively new to Zwift, in that you have to do a lot of work to be able to earn them (e.g. all the climbing you need to do for the Tron bike, or all the Drops you need for the other Halos).

One of the nice things about these upgrades is there is actually something to spend the drops on. Once you get up around level 40 there is no longer anything to buy so you just keep collecting drops. I have only been on Zwift about 3 years, I have 18m drops, and I have bought plenty of bikes and upgrades. In addition to using robo pacers (which I mostly don’t) it also helps if you work the social side and collect followers so you get a constant stream of ride ons while you are riding.

I’m doing 700km a week, and still only have 4 million drops lol

Keep that up, and you’ll soon have plenty of Drops!

Does it make any difference to set your FTP to 50?

I’ve seen people trying that. That poor avatar must be exhausted non stop sprinting.

No, that doesn’t help your rate of Drops accumulation. It’s going up gradients where the rate increases (as well as Ride Ons etc).

It’s silly, to set the bike at 10 million. I have had it sitting in the drop shop garage thing for ages, I’m not bothering upgrading anymore bikes, as it’s a waste of time, I’m actually thinking of trying rouvy, as I’m so annoyed, with zwift!

I’m not paying much attention, but last I read, most race organisers are disallowing upgraded bike.

Is that still the case?

Try everything and find out what you like most. I like riding with people, so it’s Zwift for me. People who don’t care about that or are happy riding with robots might be fine with one of the others. Even though the upgrade feature rollout was a bit of a mess, it’s not enough to deter me from the platform with lots of humans.

Why is it silly? That’s like being upset that a game won’t just let you start at the top level, or that you shouldn’t have to earn something. You may not like it, but it’s hardly silly.

You want it faster so you can get bored after?
