On the Zwift Games Stage 6 TT where does the time start - when you leave the pens, or in this case a bit down the road when says Starting Line Ahead - so at the banner.
It was confusing when I did this yesterday, but judging by the time I got - it starts at the first arch little bit down the road…
I have not done it yet but was a friend said he figured it was based on when he did it.
The timer starts just before the beginning of the sprint section.
Would have been nice to see something on the screen… Message “Starting Line Ahead“ was not helpful.
Has anyone else experienced a glitch in the final race (stage 6) of the Zwift Games. It says the “required hardware” is a power meter and HR monitor. Then, once the race is about to start, it says a steering system is required to compete and to log out and back in. So, am I to believe that only those with steering systems can complete this event? What are other doing for a work around?
The Crit Cade events are an optional event in Zwift Games that you really cannot do without a steering device because of how it’s designed. The other stage 6 event (time trial) does not require steering.
Yes only those with a steering setup can take part, there is no work around. I did the time trial instead & got the same prize for finishing. Tome it seems like a pretty underhand way of trying to get those that don’t have that setup, but like to complete everything, to buy one, preferably from them.
Thank you both. Completed the Time Trial this morning and all is well. I appreciate the clarification.
hi,
does anyone else also do not get credit for riding stage 6 ?
i rode stage 6a 2 times and 6b one time and none of them got credit.
I did the TT, and thought it was let down by poor in-game communication.
Most people didn’t seem to realise it was a TT as they were on road bikes, one even thought it was crit cade, and all we got to tell us where the race started was a bit of text saying “approaching start line” - no “GO!” or anything to make it really clear where it started. Also no time checks.
Lot of potential, but it reminded me why this was only my second time trial in more than five years.
I’d like to try crit cade - or something similar - but think I’d rather see velodrome-type different formats like an omnium.
I did the TT too, and had much the same experience. Some people going very hard off the start for no benefit, lots on non-TT bikes. A message saying approaching start line, but nothing to say exactly where that start line is. I don’t often do TT’s, some seem to start straight off the line while others have a lead in, I’ve never been able to tell in advance how the event is set up unless it’s made clear in the race description.
I’d also much prefer velodrome style race formats properly supported by zwift, even if they never end up releasing the velodrome.
Velodrome type stuff would need a different riding experience.
If you stop pedaling then your avatar flies over the handle bars and you crash. That would make things a lot different and exciting.
I was forced to do the TT and had a good experience.
I had never done any TT until this year and have done multiple TTT and they are great
The ITT on the other hand is just a max effort work out and I used it as such and improved my FTP.
It really didn’t matter what bike people chose but I did use my Zwift TT bike that I’m upgrading despite having a fully upgraded faster TT bike.
I think more people would like team time trials but I TT are a poor introduction to TT.
No, it isn’t. If you assume that it’s going to take, say, 20 minutes (to keep the numbers easy) then by that logic you’d plan to hit the start line at ~105% of your FTP and hold that power until the finish line …
… which is not going to get you round the course in the fastest time unless it’s literally pan flat.
I need to do a TTT. Unfortunately, because I work shifts, I can never commit to a regular time/day. ![]()
I mean I’d like to enjoy the velodrome race formats - e.g. elimination races or points races - they wouldn’t need things like steering or exact technical realism to be fun.
They’d even work on existing routes like crit city - with points or elimination every lap rather than the every 5 or so laps you get with velodromes.
I guess the point I’m trying to make is that the TTT experience is completely different from the ITT experience.
One is just too hard. The other is also too hard, but with company. ![]()
I just did the Crit…first time racing with required steering. Awful gamey…which I guess is fine. Unless you do this sort of thing a lot is a somewhat frustrating. But I wanted the XP so I finished it out. Will not knowingly sign up for one again unless a big bonus is attached.
I did the iTT and my ftp went down by 24W. I feel like I’ve lost 6 months progress in 15 minutes.
This post is in jest. My zftp did fall by that amount (and I’m not sure why, this route isn’t that anaerobic), but i think iTTs of 15-60 mins are excellent ways to push the envelope around threshold, especially because training is dull.
TTTs are also good over unders and you don’t think about backing off when you’ve got teammates relying on you.
Edit: i was wrong. My zftp had at some point dropped by 24W (mystery as to when and why), and this race increased it by 30W). It looks like 15 mins is a long enough effort to flatten the zftp curve.
